Happy Birthday! I’ve been watching your videos since 2019 so it’s been cool to see how your taste has changed over time. The Selection series is one that changed my life as it was the book that got me into reading in the first place. It’s what led me to find booktube in the first place and what started my love for reading and writing so for that reason despite all its flaws, it will always be special to me.

i've been a long time follower and i would've guessed twilight, the cruel prince, a court of thorns and roses and punk 57 :) daughter of smoke and bone is absolutely on my list too! it was the first time i realized that ya writing could feel adult in the hands of the right author. it was also one of the craziest cliffhangers ever!

The first book that that stands out for me that had romantic undertones was A Ring of Endless Light by Madeline L'Engle. It's about a lot of things and some things don't hold up as well as I'd like but when it comes down to it this book talked about both teenage romantic angst and non-linear time and seeing who I am as a grown up today it makes sense why it would do it for me back then and I still look back on it fondly now. Gotta love a life changing book, or a whole list of them!

Chandler you deserve all the absolute best in the world! I have been a follower since at least 2020 and I cannot stress enough how much your content and specially your honesty and integrity has contributed to my mental health. We don’t need to strive for perfection but I hope that all your hopes and dreams come true in this new year! Happy birthday!! All fingers crossed that you manage to write your book!!

The Foxhole Court changed my life too!! It taught me that it truly didn't matter how ridiculous a book or plot was (and the plot and many of the things that happen are TRULY ludicrous), if it's entertaining and has some great characters and development, I truly do not care. Happy Birthday, Chan! 🎉

Happy birthday chandler! I don't usually comment but i just have to say that getting to watch your channel is so especial, i feel like these past couple of years it has been really popular to ridicule and hate on romance books on youtube without truly giving it a chance or trying to understand the wider context of the genre, so your channel is so refreshing and your work is so necessary, thank you for giving the romance genre its flowers and respecting these books enough to talk about their complexities and nuances, it means the world to me.

idk what Priest has to offer besides the shmex scenes in the church... which left me unimpressed. There are definitely better books in this genre. The passion of Mademoiselle S by Jean-Yves Berthault is one of such books. It's not about a priest but the exploration of the sexuality (both male and female) is quite intriguing.

These are great books, just checked out Antozent today, and their library is huge! Over 250 books-definitely something for every reader, including bride, this could be us and on the same page, would highly recommend checking it out.

My best romances of the year were Bride as well, but also You Should Be So Lucky by Cat Sebastian. Hamartia by Scarlett Drake was also amazing.

Completely agree with you on the two Ali Hazelwood books, especially Not in Love. I also adore everything Abby Jimenez writes, and Just For the Summer didn't disappoint. I would recommend Bananapants by Penny Reid; it has really good mental health representation, and Dixon Rule was a good sports romance by Elle Kennedy.

I haven't read a ton of romance this year, but my favourite is definitely Swordheart by T Kingfisher. Specifically the audiobook, I listened to it three times in a row and I think it's going to be one I come back to again and again

How do you like the new kindle? I have the oasis 2017 and I'm thinking about replacing it. The battery is fine, but I feel like with the usb-c, warm light, seeing how fast it is and the 7 inch screen, I'm running out of reasons to hold on to my oasis.

I've read a good amount of 5 stars books this year, but I just realized that most of the straightforward romances haven't really blown my mind (even if a lot have been really solid). I did love At First Spite, Beach Read, and the last Lovelight Farm book that finally came out, but my other favorites are: 🧛♂My Roommate is a Vampire by Jenna Levine - this was the lighthearted paranormal fun I needed at the time 🏰The Castles Ever After series by Tessa Dare - filling the historical romance-shaped hole that she left in my heart ⚾You Should Be So Lucky by Cat Sebastian - not my favorite of hers overall, but it is my new favorite baseball romance 🐴Swift & Saddled by Lyla Sage - I only read the first in the series to get to this one 💞To Swoon and to Spar/To Woo and to Wed by Martha Waters - as soon as the series ended, I wanted more I still haven't really dug into romantasy (although Spark of the Everflame is on my TBR), but the fantasy romances that have worked for me are Swordheart by T. Kingfisher, The Undertaking of Hart & Mercy by Megan Bannen, and See You Yesterday by Rachel Lynn Solomon (a YA timeloop).
