Michael, Inkscape tutorials to make your buildings always fascinate me. CAD has always confused me and your approach is so straightforward that even I should "get it" eventually. Your "trainer" approach to the video,along with clear commentary and no unnecessary waffle are just what I need.

As good as bought card modelling kits are, your approach Michael, shows the fantastic benefits of bespoke card modelling to create such a superb, and, [to give you the highest compliment possible] GRIM representation of our part of the country. 😉 I always look forward to Friday evenings... !!!

If the next building is "14 North Parade", then a start-to-finish Inkscape tutorial would be good. I looks to be a relatively straightforward structure, and would be a good one for showing the simplest basics of the software.

Your Inkscape videos are much more popular than you thought. Perhaps it's because you have many more subscribers than when you were constructing the Ironbridge Works unit. All of your videos are interesting and informative and I look forward to each one. I would like to see a step by step Inkscape series for a full building (front, back and 2 sides, with interior), starting from initial idea and paper mockup to completed building. (But that's just me). Keep up the great work and videos at Chandwell, Michael.

Great as always Michael. Regards ballasting - I never spray the ballast beforehand ! I ballast the centre of the track first then drop the PVA along the side. Capillary action draws the mixture into the ballast without glue going over the railhead. For the sides I use a pipette and drip the glue carefully on top. Might take longer to do but wouldn't mean you having to cover everything up. Cheers Euan
@Chandwell
@Chandwell 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Euan. That is interesting. I should try that approach as it sounds easier if more time consuming. It obviously works as a technique as your ballast is superb. Michael

I’m always up for more tutorials on Inkscape. I’ve occasionally thought about getting on of the Cricut type machines but have never liked the idea of having to learn new software. Now you have shown me how easy this sort of software can be but also that with a bit of care and planning I almost certainly don’t need one of those fancy cutters. Des.

I add much the same comment every time, but it doesn't diminish how great the build is. No two pieces of tarmac are the same, or un-dug-up for long, so differences in printed colour just add to the scene. I must admit I hadn't thought of adding a drop of paint to the pva for ballast - technique duly stolen. Cheers

Brilliant! Yes please I'd love to see a tutorial on the use of Inkscape to plan your buildings. When I come to do my mining village I have photos of the "Row" I grew up on which show the 17th Century built cottages that I was born in and no model can re create these so I am intending to attempt my own so the Inkscape tutorials would be really beneficial for me.

Mikey... It has never ONCE occurred to me to use a ruler to apply a straight line of glue to a piece.... As always, you're a credit to us cardboard modellers bud - I've tried the card down spouts thing... In OO gauge it doesn't look quite right or at least I've not been able r make them look all that great... Tricky... I also didn't varnish a wall recently and it ended up doing that green stain thing....doh!!! Anyroad, good job bud!❤️👍 Edit: Yea go for it make it an INKScape tutorial, they're handy for folk to see tricks and techniques for building!
