The man in the window reminds me of model railroading legend John Allen. He literally put himself onto his HO scale model trains by cutting out photographs of himself in a size to match scale. I've seen pictures showing "him" as a locomotive engineer, a conductor, and a ticket agent. Well done Michael. 👍👍👍👍

I loved the Warners story to tie up the figure in the window. It was sad to hear that Bufton died at such a young age - but nice to hear his handiwork (?) lives on in the station canopy guttering. Nothing to worry about there, I'm sure!

Looks excellent. The small back wall and door addition is great and makes the scene even more realistic. The printed person also looks amazing. For frosted glass, here are two methods I use. First, I use transparentor translucent pvc cover for hot glue binding. The translucent one has one mat grained side and looks a lot like hammered glass. The other method uses transparent styrene and plastic glue like the revell contacta or mek. I first brush glue on the plastic then stipple the fresh glue with the brush for hammered glass or brush several times for 'ghostly' translucent glass. Hope it'll help.

I see there are a couple of suggestions already for frosted glass - here are mine: 1. The translucent plastic from plastic milk bottles (this works particularly well for train toilet windows) 2. Double sided tape, stuck to the clear plastic and the reverse side dabbed with some smooth plastic or a fingertip to gently rough the surface. I also found that scribing the reverse side of clear plastic 'window' gives a good effect of leaded glass or glass panel details too small to create using sticky label.

I remember writing an article in the years before computers and through the wrong version away - torn up and covered in various muck and had to type it all up again! A bin is always a good place to look. The street is coming on well. Think you over reacted a tad over the walls. Don't you remember the Chandwell earthquake and the poorly built walls which were damaged. The railway company replaced the arches by the station but left the rest of the substandard wall in place. After all, they owned the hotel but could not give a toss about market street!

Looking very good its nice to see the Ghost has a name. Is the colour difference between the paths because you haven't varnished it yet? Perhaps a bit of reinstatement work where the join is would be good to remove the line (put a tarmac patch there As if the Electricity or gas or water had to do some repair work. perhaps further down the path you could have a hole open with a barrier around with work in progress. keep up the good work looking forward to the next instalment.
@Chandwell3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Brian! I *hope* that the colour difference is varnish-related. I think it is as the new part has only one coat on at the moment. I must admit I never realised that the older elements have a bit of a green tint. That's something to watch out for, for sure. That's a good idea re the joins. I will see how it looks once it's bedded in and weathered. Thanks for watching! Michael

There os noticeable different of colour between the hotel part and that new building, I mean on te street and retaining wall. Is that just the normal ink aging?
@Chandwell3 жыл бұрын
Oh I know :( I am certain I used the same printer settings, so I originally put it down to not having varnished the new parts yet. But now I have, the colour difference is still noticeable. It may be part of the aging process, but its not something I have noticed before. If it doesn't sort itself out, then I may need to do something with weathering powder or something to blend it together. I was going to do the rest of the wall as-and-when I did the next buildings, but I think I will now get it finished just in case the colours change even more! Michael
