Thanks for watching John! Yes, using this method produces really sturdy buildings, and they really suit interior lighting too. --Michael.

Another interesting video that will need re-watching to master the techniques. The building really is looking good Michael and I will be interested to see how you get the brick pattern on to the model. Stephen

Thanks Stephen! That will be in the next episode once I make it. I've had a funny slow couple of weeks and I've not looked at KZbin at all, nor had time to do any modelling. Work gets like that sometimes. But things are getting back to normal again now, so there should be a new episode coming up soon. I think I probably have an episode of Elvenhome to catch up on too... :)

Just wanted to add my thanks for an excellent tutorial series. I’m going step by step with these videos, rewinding and going back again as I scratch build my very first building. I just built my card mock-up for a school building and I want to say it’s genius to first build a paper mock-up then a card version. By doing the paper version I was able to quickly see design changes I wanted/needed and the card model gave me a good idea of the model’s place on the layout. I’m now deep into part 3 on designing the interior skeleton and am excited to see the result. Thanks again for this series. Cheers!

Thank you for this comment. I am really pleased that I have helped you. I never did make Part 4 of this series. I really should get round to that, if parts 1 to 3 are really helping people.

Thanks Geoff! I’ve been away from the layout for a while due to work so not much progress otherwise. Something a bit different in today’s video to make up for the lack of progress! Not seen much from you recently either... hope all ok. 👍

Another fantastic video Michael, very well laid out and presented 👏👏👏 Particularly loved the scene on gluing the paper to the card, some very simple but valuable tips 😉 Many thanks for sharing your methods and very best wishes from Wickford ☘

Many thanks Paul! I am pleased that you found some use. I wasn't sure about including the part with the gluing, so I am now glad that I did! All the best from Yorkshire! --Michael.

A really interesting upload, I am enjoying following your builds, the Inkscape tutorial is very informative and inciteful, you present it very well. The peek at the next stage shows what can be achieved, look forward to next part in this series. Top Notch.

Thank you very much! It's taking a long time to make this building along with the videos, but comments like yours make it feel worthwhile. I am glad you got some use from this.

Thanks again for the tutorial, the building is looking good with the shots you showed at the end. I have actually tried to design a station off a pic like you did and eventually got a paper mock up made. However, when I test fitted it on the layout it wasn't going to work. Like you said no big deal as its only a paper mock up so I can go back and rethink the design. Still getting my head around some of those shape commands you use so I go back and watch your vids again when I get stuck! Cheers John

Brilliant John! I am pleased you have got some use out of my videos. The beauty of the paper mockup is just that - low effort for quick return. Looking forward to seeing some of your own efforts.

Very good tutorial on how use both the software and the basic construction. The sneak preview of the building shows what a fantastic job you are doing. P.S. loved the pink fingers lol. Cheers Euan

The build is coming along nicely, and layering 2mm greyboard like that means you'll end up with a surprisingly sturdy structure. I noticed the downpipes on the semi-completed model at the end appear similar to the way Scalescenes do them on their kits - i.e. a slightly larger inner end wall layer with black paper wrapped around the edges then sandwiched between the outer end wall and the front face of the building: have you thought of using wire downpipes? Great idea converting the gable end wall to a path so just the bottom node positions need tweeking when trying to adjust the size. A great job and I'm looking forward to the next installment. I hope you and yours stay well.

Thank you for the kind words, Paul. Yes, this technique is very much inspired by the many Scalescenes kits I have built over the years, and I am always surprised by how sturdy and solid they are. I think the downspouts approach is genius. I've never tried adding wire downspouts before. Not for any reason other than I never have... It's a technique I should try one day. --Michael.
