Why removing the spike? It's useful for digging a hole for a fire and can destroy tough items like rocks or puncture hardwood easily. If you need a hammer, just hammer with the side of the tomahawk. No need to remove the spike. And you're making the head lighter, decreasing the overall force it has when chopping wood.

@@withoutcontext7953 exactly! Something I never liked about the frontier hawk was that round back; That's why I started from the spike hawk to modify it easily and quickly. gets the job done!
