It’s ok. It happens to all of us. I even didn’t noticed. Speaking about the bag....colour is pretty but the bag is creased and crumpled... Looks like it 2year old and what other KZbinrs say leather is very poor quality... Looks like sack for potatoes...not classy at all. I think only Chanel trendy look really good and doesn’t age bad or bags in caviar leather. At least you will make enough money on videos to cover the loss.

I'm shocked at how quickly there were issues with these two brands. As you said, it shouldn't happen with Hermes. I can't believe that they placed it in a dust bag that is too small to begin with. As for the Chanel 22... Just wow. The fact that multiple clients who appear to live in different parts of the world have the same issue shows that Chanel quality isn't what it used to be. No excuse.

Thank you for another lovely video, I'm so pleased you have done an update on your 22 bag because since seeing Romina's video I have been in two minds what to do. I think you are right and that these type of colours are essentially a coating of dye on top of leather and I suspect that no matter how careful a person is there will be some erosion of colour in high contact areas. I personally am going to trust in the bag's warranty if it becomes necessary, but I would be very interested to know what you find out from Chanel. Hope you have a lovely weekend ahead.

Oh no I can’t believe you’ve had issues with your Birkin, I’ve never had any issues but I don’t buy the pastel colors either. I do know that Hermes will fix all issues. As far as the Chanel 22 issues, I wanted this bag in the large so bad like you and I spoke about on Instagram, I did some research and decided to wait a while and see what if any color issues there would be. I did buy the YSL Icare Maxi and love love love it so much.

Yeah! I couldn't believe it either, but yes, I do trust that this is something that can be fixed easily by Hermes - I just would have to send it away, that's all. The YSL Icare Maxi is stunning - congrats! I was thinking of adding it to my collection. The YSL hardware on each made is uniquely sculpted for each piece! The 22, luckily, some are not experiencing any issues, while some are. Mine is very minor, albeit, shouldn't happen. But it is not nearly as bad as what others have shown.

I couldn't believe how quickly you started noticing quality issues with your Hermes and thanks for letting us know about your Chanel 22 experience. Not sure if some of that is because its Epsom leather, so not only a coloured bag but treated/texturized leather (if I recall correctly)?? but at least there is assurance Hermes will correct it. Yes for sure. Like I said, I have no doubts that these issues can't be fixed. The chanel 22 only has minor rubbing for me, but others have experienced far worse while some have experienced zero issues.

Hey lovely 🥰 - In regards to that corner issue on the birkin, have you tried wiping it?.. it doesn’t look like a scratch more of a stain as when Epsom leather scratches a lighter colour than the top coat is revealed… So in your birkins case it would be a really light pink if it was scratched ☺️💗 xx

@@therealshakeen yes yes, soft cloth, or to be safe I always use cotton wool, dampen it with some water, squeeze the excess out and try wiping. Great review! I purchased the white and the leather woven through the chain was terrible, it already appeared cracked and worn despite being new. I exchanged for another white and it’s been about a month with no issues (yet). I’m normally not too picky about my items, but the fact that they sent the first bag to me in the condition that it was in…idk it’s causing me to step back a bit. Looking forward to the next video:)

Oh wow! So did you exchange for the exact same style? Curious to know if it was the same season. Perhaps there are differences between seasons or within the same batch of one season. Would you happen to have any photos you could share?

Yes, the same size and season. The only difference was that I initially purchased the white with black writing, the second time I opted for the white with gold. After receiving the second, I could swear that the leathers felt different, which is odd because why would the color of the letters make a difference? I’ve heard that the bags are treated/coated differently depending on the color, but I had two of the same🤷🏻‍♀️ Maybe it was just a bad batch or I received a bad one? I will def share photos!

Lovely video and lovely 22 … Yes … for this kind of UNNATURAL color, they are color coating and . And for rubbing the metal thru the holes, that‘s a PHYSICAL abrasion which cannot avoid no matter how careful you are… This is a seasonal new invention which always will arouse a lot of noise… So you either enjoy it or ignore it … haha IMHO only.

haha yes these pinks are not natural at all lol. True, physical abrasion is expected. In fact, I had 2 items from chanel where the chain rubs against leather, yet there are not issues there. Very true, a new release will always have mixed reviews. Luckily, some are not experiencing any issues. So that leads me to think it's a select few bags that are having this problem. When you revealed your Birkin I thought the box looked really small. Hermès needs to use some larger boxes and bags for handbags.

Oh great observations. The box was just fit to the bag. But this was sealed box at time of purchase, so I guess it came like that.

Oh yes Stacia! She and I have been discussing this together since the last couple of weeks and I asked her if she can share her thoughts on the 22. Someone here in the comments section also mentioned "corrigee" leather that is used on YSL and that it's likely that, not bonded leather.

I bought my metallic chanel 22 at the Vancouver shop. After 2-3 uses, the leather in the leather loop started to crack. I called the same chanel store to ask about it and they immediately accused me of mis-using the bag. They said "the leather cracked is because you carried heavy things in the bag". I was like, "I only put a 500ml water bottle and a light windbreaker. if that's too heavy, then your bag is not designed to be used". They then told me, we will send you bag off for inspection and will take 2 months. I told them to f'off.... I will take it to USA and see if I get the same response. Vancouver Chanel store, never go again!

Saint Laurent flaking for many years😄 the bags that are made of corrigee leather. I mean here is a bit too much speculation on Dacob side - between full grain and bonded leather there are many level of completeness of leather and different types of tanning and applying colors. Apparently this type is not the greatest one, but it does not mean it is bonded. I have 22 in bronze color, worn it 7 -10 times so far no issues, have stitching like Romina has

Oh thank you Olesya for this information! I'm happy to hear your bag is ok. It's a mixed response for this bag - some are reporting issues, others are reporting none. That's interesting about corrigee leather. I will have to research on that. I love my 22, the wear I've shown is quite minimal - I mean it shouldn't happen, but it isn't as bad as other people's bags.

It happened to both of my C22 medium in black on the chains, the color rubbed off to reveal an underlying layer of the bag and for the price I paid.. i can't accept it and my SA told me it is part of wear and tear. FYI ive been with my NYC SA for years and have gotten 2 Kelly 28’s and a Birkin 35 before so she was understanding about me returning it and suggested just giving me the refund instead of store credit because she could see it wasn’t something I wanted to do but it couldn’t be ignored.

I think you should try to return your Chanel bag, the damage will only get worse. It is clearly a flaw in the leather and the design of the bag. I'm surprised of the damage to the Birkin bag, definitely take it to have it repaired.

Yes, we contacted Hermes and they said we can bring it into the boutique anytime. I'd like to enjoy this colour in the summer. I think I'll take it in the fall winter so I can send it away. I'm wearing the 22 now and just monitoring it incase it gets worse. Some have reported no damage at all!

Actually, today's leathers are mostly dyed through (or at least they should be; it's called "drum dyed) - except, for instance, if a special pattern is desired (as a design, for example) - or because manufacturers want to keep their costs lower (that's what I personally think Chanel did).

@@therealshakeen As far as I know (I'm absolutely not an expert, but have read many articles about leather, because I eat vegan / vegetarian, but am a bag lover, so I wanted to know more about how the leather is sourced) it is easier with darker colours, but nevertheless seems to be possible with lighter colours as well, which would make sense, considering Louis Vuitton's vachetta leather (which is untreated) is pretty light; so I could imagine that a leather with such a colour could be dyed in Mauve Sylvestre (which is the colour of your Birkin, if I'm not mistaken). The Chanel 22 seems a little bit sketchy to me, simply because 1. the colour seems very thick, it almost looks like an additional layer (which would make sense if it were a patent leather bag), 2. I share your, Dacob's, and classicswithaquirk's worries that this isn't real leather, but rather a "mixture" of leather and other components... 🤔🤷🏻‍♀️ Have a lovely day / evening 😊!

Ohh my I’m super sad about the Birkin. Like none of that should be happening this fast 😫. You’ve had it for like a week lol. But chanel well that’s to be expected since they are a 🗑 brand these days..the bag won’t last more than a year and will they repair it to brand new condition if you bring it to get fixed ? I have experienced them trying to repair a cardholder which took 6 months by the way I got it back and it was literally two different shades of pink.

The Chanel is definitely a design flaw. They should’ve sewn a soft felt like material just on the inside of the opening where the chain was always going to rub. Saying that my caramel 22 bag is fine

Yup! BUT in this case, atleast the bags should be in excellent condition when new, regardless of the price tag. Wear and tear is expected when you use the bags after a while. The main concern here is not only wear and tear, but what is the material used for the 22 - is it full leather?

It's a cute bag but the designer did a bad design choice with this bag. I cannot think of any bag design I have seen before that has the chain rubbing against leather as with the bag in question. As in the pink Chanel flap bag that you show the chain passes thru a metal grommet so the thin leather strip thread thru the chain does rub against the metal grommet but the metal is smooth so wear and tear is minimal. Well worn boots or bags the surface of the leather can get very shiny and smooth but soft leather with a layer of dye or pigment on top is not very smooth when looked at up very close. If the bag in question was made of undyed brown leather wear and tear would of course appear with the strap rubbing against the rim of the opening on the body of the bag but it would not be really noticeable. Because the leather being soft and treated with dye/pigment wear and tear starts immediately. Really just a terrible way of designing the chain on this design. I would sack the designer. And the price Chanel is charging for this mistake of a bag is outrageous considering it's design is so simple.

As for the chain rubbing against leather, there are styles I have (2 from Chanel - the WOC and a seasonal flap) where there are no grommets and the chain slides across leather. I haven't noted any issues. Luckily for my 22 bag, the wear is very minimal, but yes, shouldn't happen on a new bag. Perhaps the design or leather could be better, but I have no way of knowing. It's unfortunate for those experiencing terrible issues. On the other hand, some people have had no issues. I guess one bad apple wouldn't of course make us write off the brand entirely, but yes, for the price we're paying, we'd expect better!

Something is going on in Chanel, first it was this ridiculous xmass calendar, sudden quality drop, weird marketing… It is so strange to see Chanel making mistakes. For decades it was perfection, but now.. ? 🫣 It seems like Karl was overlooking everything, all of it was tight and now we see cracks.
