Thanks for this upload! Came to see if anyone had any tricks for the 2 bottom bolts on the bearing assembly. I'm going to do what you did, thanks!

IF you were in the rust belt THEN you would've been at it all day. There's so many points the rust makes the job harder and lengthens the process. If you are in the rust belt you need to know all the possible tools it may take if you get in trouble and also know how to change up the plan off attack to get the bearing housing off.

Watching this while my mechanic is doing this.. just thinking why I didn’t do this myself

If the car is older and has been driven in an area where the roads are salted in the winter, the bearing won't just fall out when you loosen the bolts, as it does in this video. I did this job on my '12 A4 yesterday and in spite of it being a front bearing (where the bolts are easier to get to) it took almost 4 hours. The bearing housing gets seized into the aluminum carrier, and is incredibly hard to get out.

You guys ever try to tackle the front bearings? Im hoping it'll be more or less the same process, at least not more difficult.
@dylantrinh87383 жыл бұрын
I did change the front wheel bearings, I did not make the video when I changed the front. I can assure you that the front is much easier to do because the front wheels are moveable and much easier to access.

Great job guys.. I agree with that process with replacing the hub/bearing assembly, do you need loctite on the axel bolt or did it come already on it? You guys have it easy living in a corrosion free area lol 👍🏻👍🏻

Cool video. How do you know how much force you tightened the two lower bolts since a torque wrench won't fit there ?
@dylantrinh8738 Жыл бұрын
I did torqued the two bottom bolts, I had to use a longer extension and a swivel for the bottom.

How did you torque the two bottom bolts on the hub? I noticed it skipped past this
@danielarok51022 жыл бұрын
Because he didn't torqued the bottom bolts ... thats why he skipped that part :D

@@nathanmaguire1380 you have to get out the whole wheel bearing housing. Long job.

Nice work, how long did it take to the one side?
@dylantrinh87383 жыл бұрын
Thank you, I'll say it took roughly 2 hours from start to finish per side.
