@digitaldyslexia7589
@digitaldyslexia7589 Жыл бұрын
@@ArtemLokhovitskiy it ended up being worn out/torn up bushings and ball joints in my control arms. If I remember correctly we replaced the whole lower front control arm on each wheel (replaced driver side first, then a few months later heard it again and it was the other side). The shop could only replicate the noise by driving and not while on the lift, so we had to basically take a chance and replace control arms one by one until it was gone. Luckily we got it on the 1st try

My thoughts on the pinch bolt: definitely apply plenty of penetrating spray a couple of days in advance, use a combination Kroil and Deep Creep; remove the nut and use an impact on the bolt’s head; if the bolt spins but doesn’t come out, whack the nut end of the bolt with the nut still on; if the threads on the nut begin to deform, use a hacksaw to remove the damaged threads and air hammer the rest of the bolt out; you may need to whack it out a few times in between using the air hammer; if it slowly comes out but doesn’t budge all the way begin applying leverage in between the bolt head and spindle using spare wrenches and use a punch to push the rest of the bolt out of the way

Great and very useful video. I have a 2015 a5 sline with sport suspension. I have this weird rubbery noise (its like someone is twisting a piece of rubber or two rubber components rubbing against each other) coming from the right front, when going at very low speed (at a parking lot for instance) and steering wheel is on full right. The car was in audi dealership for 3 days, they couldn't pinpoint what exactly is causing the weird noise, they agreed they located it and heard it though. I had to pay £450 for that, so I was quite disappointed that I basically paid for a "free" washing/vacuuming of my car at Audi, haha...

How good is this guy? I hope they pay him well. Thank you so much; even I can understand the workings of my Audi.But I have one question. Why is the suspension design fundamentally so complicated? MacPherson strut set up, which I used years ago, is super simple but this just appears to work, opposing the next to component. (if that makes sense)

I have had a clicking noise when reversing and the wheel turned 75% to the left or right, which has gotten worse with time since 40Kish milage. Any idea what the issue could be? I am noticing a slightly harder turn input from the wheel when driving at higher speeds. Any idea what the "issue" could be? Might be time to move on from the A4. Check your power steering fluid it may be old if so flush it and refiill with the right stuff. Then inspect the rack if it's damaged you can easily tell. Sometimes brake rotors can give you the same sensation as well or if your brakes are worn badly but not grinding with noise they will give you that click feeling in the steering wheel.

You can feel this in the back of your drivers seat? I ha e been told its the rear differential? All the bushes and arms have been checked all ok. Have you any knowledge of this problem? Thanks Neil
@fcpeuro
@fcpeuro Жыл бұрын
That is difficult to diagnose without having the car to inspect, but we would typically look into tires (check if they are 'cupped' or wavy), wheel bearings (see if there is play with that wheel off the ground), or a differential mount. (You would need to raise the rear of the car completely and check with a pry bar or other means to see if there is slop in the mounts.) Our guess would be any of those before a rear differential.

A couple questions.. What are the signs that a gearbox mount/bush has gone? Also I can hear a squeaking/creaking when driving over bumps or on turns, taken it to a few garages but no one can ID the problem. Any ideas what it could be?

Would these control arms cause a tight steering to the left only if the arms were failing on this side? 110k no history on arm replacements

Hi Jeff, that is a possibility in some extreme situations. We would advise inspecting all the surrounding suspension components at the same time.

I'd like congratulate Germany for having roads in such good condition, that changing various suspension parts is not a regular occurrence, as opposed to many other countries. you can drive around in a Honda Civic 8th Gen (euro version, the "UFO"), a car known for its hard suspension setup, and you'll never find it uncomfortable. you can drive in a supercar or hypercar without noticing anything on the small roads in the country side, roads normally used by tractors.

Maybe someone can help me here. I've a older A6 C6 have a rattle both sides when going over rough road this only appeared after getting shocks done 6 months ago mechanic said the upper and lower control arms are knackered so rather than ditch the car I decided to go ahead and let him replace it all, 700euro later the damn thing sounds worse mechanic says he's stumped everything feels solid and can't replicate the sound on the ramp I've since went to another mechanic and he reckons its gotta be something the previous guy did wrong and recommends replacing everything again. The parts are lemforder and the shocks are bilstein so not cheap part's, with the wife's head out the window she says it sounds like it's coming from the wheel area it's driving me nuts it doesn't affect the driving what so ever but it's clacking away when I hit a few bumps in a row going over speed ramps is no problem. Anyone got any idea's?

@@TheSilviu8x yes they look okay but it is a design fault from Audi. The rubbers inside the bearings are nog strong enough. The Meyle HD kit has upgraded rubbers and that fixes the vibrations. I have had mine all replaced and it is much much much better now.

Awesome video! My car was produced in November (hopefully) here’s the VIN WAUMF78K09N031292 wondering what type of lower forward control arms does it have. Also, if I have a visible crack on the upper control arms would it imply that the lower control arms are bad too? I’m not experiencing any clunking noises, just loose handling.

I have a 2009 A5 and the upper control arms are cracked but no noise. But its obvious the steering does not feel tight. My front shocks also leaking. I would think the rubber bushes and shocks on a 11 year old car has reached end of its life and they all need replacing. Once you replace all these the car will be completely different drive but cost will depend if you do DIY or garage.
