You need a bobcat (other skid steers available) to scrape slurry, handle bales, help feed/bed up, extra loader, it could do loads of things
@williamwilson51272 жыл бұрын
As great as a small(ish) skid steer or track steer may be, Tom could replace the IH with a "new" older tractor for less than the down-payment on a new skid steer. Used skid steers always need a fortune in service and repairs to sort them out becuase they are hard to service and they get left too long.
@eoinfagan65492 жыл бұрын
You can pick up a scraper tractor handy enough, anyways he has a diet feeder and straw blower so no need for feeding or bedding.

Yes a automated feed pusher and a scraper would be a great labour saver but as you say funds are a little limited after the new building outlay which looks outstanding. I think a second hand front line tractor in or around 150 bhp is next consideration. Doesn't need all the bells and whistles but would bully that slurry tanker around and take the pressure of the Hurliman. The Casee 885 is a very capable beast that has pulled you out of a few holes in the past and like the other yard tractors is costing you nothing depreciation wise and is perhaps appreciating !!

My scraper tractors a case 895, had her new in 93, used to b my main tractor. Its done everything from mowing, muckspreading, ploughing and even use to do the chopping with a jf forager, 11000 hours she has an easier, but dirtier life now .

Yup, the tip of your shifter is worn. You can build it back up with weld and file it down to original shape. The main reason it slips out is people try to shift in a W going from like 1 to 2 or 3 to 4 where you have to switch shift rails. If you discipline yourself to shift in an H pattern, always straight back and forth to the middle, then straight side-to-side, then straight back and forth into the next gear, you can avoid it happening again.

loving the content Tom, re scraper tractor size, I once owned a John Deere 3040 2wd (90hp) it was fully restored but I sold it, to my horror it turned up in some pics on face book as a scraper tractor, it had had the full stock man treatment, smashed windows replaced with Perspex, missing mirror's etc etc I would say 6cyl 90hp on a yard scraper was fair over kill!

Noticed the blue smoke when you started up the loader tractor if you guys run low sulphur diesel over there like we do here in Canada an old school mechanic told us years ago to run a liter or 2 of automatic transmission oil in a full tank of diesel about once a month we have been doing it since the 90’s in our case 2294 and our case 4490 and it cleared up the blue smoke and the engines all run smoother atf is high in detergents and will clean out the injectors and will clean out all the carbon build up in the valve train just a helpful tip to keep the old girls running a bit longer
@TomPembertonFarmLife2 жыл бұрын
I might try this you know! Is it this easy?
@joeynagy86572 жыл бұрын
@@TomPembertonFarmLife it really is lol I used to have a2004 Dodge Ram 3500 Cummins and after a year it had a little bit of blue Smoke and ran a rough like it had a miss and I started pouring in one liter a week of atf into the fuel I used to burn about 200 liters a week and it cleaned it all out and ran like brand new up to 498 thousand km I swear by it that old mechanic friend said we could do it every tank of fuel and it won’t hurt anything but we went with the once a month in the tractors cause they weren’t to bad but my truck was pretty bad so I went once a week and it cleaned up pretty quick
