Hey Tom, nice videos. Interesting how farmers across the world do things. Looking at the mold beside the walls we use plastic around walls on the inside of the bunks. Air can actually go through concrete. In addition, it keeps the walls from been worn by the feed. Have a good day!

You are a natural born farmer , and you make farming look effortless. God bless you and your beautiful family. This was God's plan for you, and to help others learn how to the process works. Thank you for teaching us. And your such a pro at the videos. God bless you 🙏🏽

Get some clingfilm under the black sheet. Put it under side sheets makes a lot of difference. Because it sticks to the silage, it helps with secondary fermentation once the pits open

The most important thing we found with clamp silage is have enough wait on the sheet when I cover it one year we were lazy and didn't put enough tyres on and ever clamp we had that year was shit now we make sure that tyres are touching across the hole clamp and never had the problem again. If u did that u won't get waste on the top and we never use side sheets. Good video. Those harvesters drink loads, we go through 3000ltrs each cut now!!

One question though - have you had any problems with the girls feet? With all the demolition and all the building work being done creates so much rubble and small sharp objects that could get into the hoofs, will Pete be coming in again to give the yard a good clean up like he did with the shed - sorry thats 2 questions. It’s a greener field 🙈 do you ted? Or is it cut and pick up same day?
@FarmTheoryNI Жыл бұрын
@@TomPembertonFarmLife I ted sometimes. Its definitely not required for good silage. Few points. 1/ Most of your drying happens in the first 4 hours, so ted asap behind the mower. 2/ Target silage DM should be around 28%, your goal is to get it to that as fast as possible, your grass is decaying once mowed. To dry is as bad as to wet. 3/ A mower with a conditioner helps speed up drying considerably, convince someone to let you try one. 😅 4/ Making great silage is like riding a bike. I struggled for years to get it right, the key is to keep trying, you have already came a long way.
