I agree with you. However, it is very unsafe. If the shaft between the two bearings snaps off for some reason, it could cause serious injury. You should perform stress analysis if you want to be on the safe side.

@5tr41ghtGuy7 жыл бұрын
Hi Darek, thanks for posting this nice video! I have a 7" metal cutting circular saw too, and had put serious thought into a chop saw project like yours. The only thing that stopped me was finding out that the carbide blades get dull very fast when you cut alloyed steels. In that case, you have to use a bandsaw, so I ended up purchasing one of those. The circular saw is still my choice for cutting sheets of mild steel up to 3/8" (10 mm) thick; just clamp a piece of bar to the sheet for a guide, and you will get a perfectly straight cut with a clean edge.

Unreal. I bet it's just as accurate and stable, as their $366 chop saw. Your chip catcher is better and the guard is better, yours will be way less messy. Not only that but with that hing, yours will last longer, and the entire saw can be swapped out if needed. Really inspiring.

I have used a 14" Evolution chop saw for years and love it, when I figured out the reason why it cuts steel so well (slow speed) I took a table saw and slowed the blade to 1700 rpm and with a cheap 71/4" 40 tooth carbide ($10:00) wood blade. I can cut steel almost as fast as wood with all the accuracy that's built in the table saw. Nobody has this on KZbin
@alsatian91304 жыл бұрын
so Mike, besides rpm(speed), what else do most people do if they wanted to cut steel, not wood in this like manner??
