So far, out of all Getter Transformations I've seen from different series over the years, this one always stands out to me the most simply because of those overlaying panels that form the arms and fingers. It's so modern, so advanced, and ahead of it's time. Like the concept of nanotech taken to a whole other level! Also, daaaamn, the lungs on Hideo Ishikawa for being able to belt out "Change Getter 1"!

The production was top notch for the first 3 episodes of armageddon. No wonder they fired the director, supposedly he was going over budget on a constant basis lol, but it was worth it for scenes like this

It's awesome that shows like Jujutsu Kaisen and others have fluid motion that evokes what the 90s did when they could afford to put the budget into a few select action scenes.

IIRC The planes (and, by extension, Getter Robo itself) are made out of a material that moves in response to getter rays. Basically, it’s T-1000 metal powered by the color out of space, so I think it’s allowed to make no sense

Basically what the replies are saying. Getter Robos are built out of an alloy that can alter it's shape, like an advanced memory metal. It's presumably also why Getter doesn't just fall apart under its own weight, because Super Alloys tended to be the way old School Super robots got around the Square Cubed Law.

the transformation of Getter Robo is shown in a closer, slower, version of the original. Allows it to make better sense. I'm refering to the forming of the body parts materializing armor metal plates probably digitaly stored (ala tron)and reprojected when activated. Brilliant, and the music that accompanies it, is right on the money. This is way kool.

they're pro pilots at this point. that transformation may be slower for us, but in fact it was faster. even if there was any possible threat, a quick open get during the combination to evade would be even faster, since they're half way to back to getter machines.

Actually if you want to be technical, the manga just had Ryo, Hayato, and Dr Saotome as the pilots. For NightTF, from what I heard, the style is actually similar to the original manga. The TV show was made in the 70s and meant for kids so they definitely made it a little lighter.
