Vivek Sir, I too realised last week that, I have paid high cost due to overtrading. I was preparing reports to submit my ITR. Till then, I was thinking I was at Breakeven with my Options Trading business. Whatever profits I made through swing trading was gone paying these Options trading costs!! I am returning to my successful swing trading business only now. Rightly explained by Souradipji about Algo programmed spikes do not allow SL to hit...taking losses to the max limit.

@shares961 VB sure is an Achcha Insaan - no doubt. I like him. The idea was not to give a character certificate. And also I AM already make quite a bit of financial contributions to his products.But then I need to draw a line somewhere- even for Achcha Insaan। I have my financial limitations

Tax shouldn't be kept so high just to deter more people coming to market. They should think of a way to allow people (not just rich people but also other class of people) to consider trading as their source of livelihood. Just by blindly increasing tax will not be a solution...it will drive away all small fish and then there will be nothing left for large fish to consume and this business will become non-lucrative. To start with, they can reduce weekly expiries to fortnightly expiries and just allow the two exchanges (NSE, BSE) to have only 2 tradable index (NF, BNF, Sensex, Bankex). Impose higher tax only on Intraday trading.

Sir what about STCG tax. If you are doing 10 trades in a year and you average annual gain is 20%, after paying all the charges and stcg tax, only 10-11% in your pocket, means even we will not be able to beat nifty.

STCG is on only profit portion , not entire trade , so if you say earn 20 thousand on 1 lac then tax is at 20 % of 20,000 ,so 4000 your post tax return is 16000 , which is 16 % , you also need to take into account exemption limits , please consult a tax Proffessiobal
