This is an absolute lifesaver! Mac running critical on storage as my iPhone backup took up 480gb of available 500gb drive. Every online help on this transfer gave a vague link to input and it keeps returning as "directory not found" on Terminal. This drag the folder in method is a miracle! Nothing can go wrong that way and only then did I realised there are other input to key in such in user, before the whole Library command. Thanks mate! Feel so liberated!!!!

I think you plug in your phone, dont plug in the external drive, Move your backup folders under the symlink "Backups" folder to another folder of your choice. Then click manage backup and it will automatically create a new folder in MobileSync. So you can move your files to that non symlinked Backup folder in MobileSync that it created for you.
