It was a very emotional scene to see the general pick up the kdf flag on the steps where his predecessor was supposed to be however this was not a normal change of command which was done under extraordinary circumstances I would like to pass my condolences the commander in chief of the Kenyan defence forces and president of the Republic of Kenya President William ruto all the men and women serving in the Kenyan army Kenyan Navy and Kenyan Air Force basically the Kenyan defence forces in the totality losing a commander under Such tragic circumstances is never easy but I hope the KDF will be able to find closure and heal so that they can continue to protect the Republic of Kenya the best of the abilities I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate general Kahariri on his appointment has the new chief of the defence forces in Kenya sir you are now in charge of a military that is still grieving from the loss of their commander who was your boss so you have to lead by example and make sure that even as you continue to grieve Kenyan security does not suffer
