I did the light seals on my Hasselblad backs with some help from a Camera Club member who has a workshop -- he searched all his tools to find a screwdriver with a fine enough blade to undo those small screws !! Now he has moved away so I hope the seals will LAST a LONG TIME !!

wow, KZbin is begining to read my mind, because just an hour ago I've developed a Delta 100 roll from my Hasselblad 500 CM and just got some light leaks in it. Thanks for the video.

At 5:44 it shows a strip that looks like metal or plastic. Is this something you made or bought?

Hi Mike, any chance you can tell me where I can buy this black mylar material?
@Split10uk10 жыл бұрын
Great video....very detailed and informative. I don't suppose you could make one on how to replace the foam inside the body as mine has started to deteriorate on my 500C/M :( I think it's the mirror damping foam, but I expect it all needs replacing.
@mikeno6210 жыл бұрын
Hi Split10 Thanks.. I work on movie in some parts about, how to completly disassemble the Hasselblad 500 C with all those gears and, and also how to change the mirror foam, it will come up sooner

mikeno62 I am looking forward to that. If I have the confidence it could save me a lot of money. Thank you :)

Where's the audio? I can't hear anything :(
@mikeno625 жыл бұрын
Well, there's not any sound because the video was made as a "motion-lapse" video. almost just like a "Time-Lapse" video. I did not have a HD video camera at that time.

Hi, there. It's very nice and details video, it will be really helpful. PS: would you share what kind of material are you using it. The seal material can use film sheet/xray sheet? Thanks.
@mikeno6210 жыл бұрын
Hi Alex You can use a piece of film and cut it the right size, that you can see in my movie. Go to a hardware store, or some of those hobby shops that have everything for creative people, also take a look into a painters shop, you should ask for FABLON SELF ADHESIVE VELOUR, that can be used for the small narrow strip that go into the groove on the back frame part. Also ask for some black foam NOT too stiff, but a little soft. The foam should be really easy to press up.

mikeno62 Thanks for the tips.. I will look into it. Thanks again

I just did this but for the A16 back. Problem is, now my darkslide is real sticky as it is moving back and fourth

+Carl Lovén I discovered when buying this kit that the folded plastic was a bit too stiff, so when you repair the magasin you could simply re-use the thin folded plastic, of course if it's not are broken. Then you could put in new foam and change the strip (self adhesive Velour) It works very good and is much cheaper than the kit.

+mikeno62 I bought the kit from ebay from blackbird, and it seems like it didn't come with the self adhesive velour. Is that okay?

Hi, have you got an idea on how to exchange a left side of Hassy cassette ? Thanks in advance
@mikeno628 жыл бұрын
+Michał Bryłka Hi Michal, to open the left side of the magasin tyr to look in one of my other films, this is about the advance problem in the Hasselblad A12 Magasin, where you can see how to open the side. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJS0i3tta5qre9k Cheers Kenneth

+mikeno62 Hi, thanks for you reply. I was actually trying to change/improve my cassette cosmetically - I received a original color side (burgundy leather). It turned out that I had one of oldest Hasselblad cassette that does not support changing sides. Now I have a newer one and it is enough to peel of the leather and remove 4 screws - changing side is a simple as that

Hey Mike, a Changing kit i got off eBay by Dick/Richard Warner didn't have the 3Mm patch/seal you had; it only came with the Mylar Seal and Foam. In his instructions he says " I should add one word here: Despite all the old wives tales, there is only one place a magazine can leak light and that is through the trap seal" So I'm guess he didn't include it because it wasn't necessary? What are your thoughts? I adore your How to better than his instructions
@mikeno627 жыл бұрын
Thank's for the info Steven. During the years I have repaired many Hasselblad magasin's, the foam will over time get very sticky and gummy but of course also the Mylar seal has been broken, so the dark slide has been very sticky to take out and push in. But my in my expericence, it had many times also been the 3mm patch that has been worn out. I had buy some of those light seal's on eBay, but I think the spare material is a bit too thick, so the dark slide is hard to push in and pull out. Hope it make sense. Cheers Kenneth

mikeno62 I had to reread it a couple of time but it does! I think I might've groof'd I was following your video and I tore off my 3mm patch thinking he'd given me one. Do you think I'll be alright without it? If not, do you have any extra patches I could purchase from you or do you know where I can order them?
@mikeno627 жыл бұрын
The small 3mm strip have to be there to make the light trap working proper, but you can buy the black adhesive velour on this website: www.wilko.com/sticky-back-plastic/d-c-fix-original-deco-self-adhesive-film-velour-black-348-0005/invt/0309578 It's the same I use to make the strip, I have done it many times and it work's perfect every time. Cheers Kenneth

My seal repair kit did not include the 3mm x 66mm seal that attaches to the front plate of the cassette. Where can I purchase these seals or what can I use to make these seals?
@mikeno627 жыл бұрын
The material is actually black adhesive velor, that you can buy in some fabric shops. You could also try a painters shop. I get the fabric here in Denmark: www.brondsholm.dk/dc-fix-m-klb/3469-folie-med-klaeb-dc-fix-velour.html#/500-variant-velour_sort Cheers Kenneth

@mikeno627 жыл бұрын
Yes that's correct Greg there is no (0) sound, because I didn't have a HD video camera when i made this film, it's just a "motion-Lapse" film, (a kind of time-lapse film, but with much better flow in the film).

Hey Mike . I just got my replacement foam kit today. I got some basic written instructions with it, but I was not sure. Then I have found your video . Then 10 minutes later , I got my new light seal foam in it. Just light proof tested it and not an iota of light was visible. Yesss, thank you.
