This is a good video involving half of the job. This video shows how to replace the foam and mylar seal on the "magazine side" of the dark slide opening. There is also a foam seal on the "camera side" of the dark slide opening. It is a very narrow self adhesive foam seal that is stuck to the backplate (the part that comes off when you remove the nine screws). It is a common cause of light leaks onto the film when the dark slide is removed. It's a very simple replacement but most online kits do not supply this part. Beware if you only do one side your film is still at risk of a leaking back.

Any reply to your question? I would be interested to know what material to use for the seal you are referring to.

Hi. Thanks for your videos. I would love a tutorial on properly repainting old lenses. Body and markings. Have you ever done that? Thank you.

Hi! Thank you for the video. Can you share what kind of lubricant you have been using on the gears? I want to service my own back but want to make sure I get the right kind of lubricant. Thank you!

Hey I really want to see a video fixing problems(any of them) for MAMIYA 7, I have been annoyed for the poor and unstable contact of the shutter for quite some time(fine with my cable release) I wonder how to solve the bad electronic contact due to a long period of time?

DeoxIT is a satisfactory product for cleaning and improving performance of problematic contacts. ( www.amazon.com/shop/fixoldcameras?ref=ac_inf_hm_vpis ) There might be additional contact cleaners that others might suggest. Thank you for the comment.

Hi, since the kiev 88 is a copy of hasselblad do you think I can use the same procedure in the kiev magazines?

It might. Do not know for certain. Generally, in addition to whatever issue needs repair, they can occasionally... or maybe more often than not, need much tweaking to get halfway reliable smooth operation.

@2:25 how much do the original repair seals cost? The ones on eBay actually look like your DIY seals.

The seals you found on eBay are probably made in the same way as the DIY demo in the FOC video is a technique that has circulated around.

If you were looking at a back removed from the camera the release for the latch is located in the upper left corner above the wind gear. The task is to slip a thin pallet knife with a squared off tip along the upper edge of the the dark slide slot until you contact the latch lock release.

Do not know specifically. Typical of most SLR of that vintage a 1.0mm or 1.5mm medium density foam for the door grooves and 2.0mm or 2.5mm light density foam foam the door hinge. Note - if you cut a foam strips narrower than the width they will try to curl on you, so always pick a thickness that can be cut a little wider than it is thick.

hello, i disassembled the camera about a year ago and i changed the foam but that was all, now i think the problem is in the spring sistem because the rewind lever doesnt stops after the curtains are in place and for some reason i cant remove screw that keeps the whole spring sistem in place. but thanks for trying to help

Possibility that you might discover an issue by removing the bottom cover. Look for a latching lever that is sticking or has a disconnected or broken spring.
