This week instead of watching from my sweet husband's bedside in the hospital, he's dead...he died 3 days ago and I still believe in Him but I don't think He cares about me. I think He's punishing me...I will continue to show up but I don't feel His presence in our family's heartbreak.

I know exactly how you feel. I was 42 & had only been married 18 months when my husband passed away. Two weeks later I lost our baby. I was so angry & as it was my husband who brought me back to God so I felt even more betrayed. It was years before my anger at how unfair life was began to subside. My sister told me that perhaps if I looked at the situation from a different perspective it might help me to understand why "God's plan" was better than the plan I had made. My husband was a disabled veteran & suffered with PTSD. Many were the nights his demons tormented him over the actions war(Desert Storm) required him to commit. The physical disability was bad but the emotional & mental anguish he endured was by far so much worse. My sister suggested that perhaps God called my husband home to him to save him from the pain, both mental & physical that tortured him constantly. Obstacles I overcame made me strong & I often prayed that God let me carry some of my husband's burdens to lessen his torment. I did not realize it at the time but I now believe that is precisely what happened. While my grief has left a hole in me I may never be able to fill...my husband is no longer in pain. I would be so arrogant as to tell another how to grieve what measures one might need to take to deal with such an indescribable loss, please don't feel like you are alone. Our church is filled with so many people who can help you. This I know from personal experience. I know I will never be able to see why things happen the way they do as I lack the ability to see the enormity of God's plan for me. Just know if in the dark you reach out your hands someone will help pull you back into the Light! God bless you and keep you. I will remember you in my prayers. Your friend in Christ, Moxie
