Disneyland and Walt Disney World will soon make changes to their Disability Access Service program in an effort to curb the misuse riddled in the widely used program that results in longer attraction queues and backed-up Genie+ lanes for guests.

We lived in CO and planned a trip for our family in September 2022. My hubby had stage IV colon cancer. We made the video appointment with DL DAS interviewer. We had a note from our oncologist asking for the pass. After the interview was complete, we were denied the pass. My daughter and I went without my hubby, thinking we would have more time for another trip. He passed in January 2023 (four months later). @DISNEYPARKS, please train these young DAS staff. My hubby was optimistic, upbeat, and funny during the interview (he stayed positive and believed he was going to beat cancer until 48 hours before he passed). Sadly, I think the young DAS interviewer took my hubby's enthusiasm as he was ok to stand in lines, etc., even though we had a note from the oncologist and file folders full of medical surgeries and chemo. When the pics come up of that trip on my phone with just me and my daughter, it breaks my heart! I know there is abuse with this system. I have seen it at both DL and WDW. I hope folks don't "judge a book by its cover."

These lines are ridiculous waiting for 3 hours for one ride really? Why pay all that money to stand in line majority of time I’d rather they limit capacity and be lucky to reserve a day that way when the day comes it’s actually pleasant.

For real. The wait times are ridiculous. If it’s anything over 30min we just skip it. Not wasting an hour or so for a 3-5min ride

Yes! My son has Down Syndrome/ Autistic behaviors and when I went to the office where you get the pass, I couldn't believe the number of people that were there claiming there child had a disability and I didn't see there child with them, my son was with me, and I got out of there quickly thank goodness, my son wasn'tdoing wellwith all those people compacted in the office. My other son has is Highfunctioning Autism he does fine and doesn't need accommodations.

I know they are also talking about the Elderly as well, some have a very hard time walking or can't walk. Some can walk and have a wheelchair when they get tired or there legs give out, but some don't use the fast pass or or disabilities pass.

AWESOME!!! I personally knew a lady and her husband who would lie and say she was disabled in a wheelchair to get out of waiting in 1-3 hr long lines for rides. These people do this every single time they go to Disneyland. And they have done it at Knott's Berry Farm too. They are scandalous and deserve to get caught and banned from the park permanently. Anyone else doing this deserves the same thing. Maybe if enough people are banned from the park for this behavior, others will, hopefully, think twice about doing it. It's actually a crime to park in handicap parking spaces ECT, this should be too and punishment should be jail time. But this is Cali and that just won't happen. Just facing reality. Karma

That’s really cool that Disneyland and Disney World are doing that me and my sister were to go when they had the pass program for Disneyland and I have a disability and honestly I think it’s great that they’re doing this. I miss Disneyland. It’s a pretty amazing place. I hope to go back someday.

Spent 4 HOURS waiting to do the new DAS ENROLLMENT…. 4 hours! I’m really sure now that we shouldn’t continue with the annual pass. On so many levels Disney has went down, including their costumer service. The prices are more than outrageous and now with the DAS situation, which I do have medical documentation for, it’s having to relive serious injury every 120 days. I will not ever understand why they just didn’t do it like Universal Studios? I give props to Universal Studios for having established a platform, which was ingenious! The process is terrible and the lack of transparency of the conditions that qualify are even worse, as there’s no guidelines where at least our medical providers can provide documentation for. I spoke to my provider and they were clueless, as they could only provide documentation such as FMLA paperwork and a letter of permanent disability. I’m not sure I want to be put through this process every 120 days. Plus the prices are becoming ridiculous and unaffordable. My DAS got denied as they stated it was o lay for developmental disability. But complex PTSD AND military sexual trauma are not even closely considered. This is concerning. Not ADA compliant for sure.

The way for Disneyland to solve this is: don't have lines. They run their parks beyond capacity if you're waiting 1 to 3 hours for a ride. Imagine spending all of that money on standing in line for 2/3rds of the visit. You're paying to stand in line. It's a scam not a vacation. Disneyland needs to find better ways to ensure people don't stand in line more than 15 min for a ride. It's not a disability issue, it's a Disneyland issue, they're just using this disability accomodation to cover up for the fact that they don't know how to run their parks. Last time I went was 15 years ago with my niece, never again. I went during childhood in the 70s and 80s and it was fun, 15 years ago it was a nightmare that cost thousands of dollars.

you hit the nail on the head! well said. ive never been to disneyland but i have been to disneyworld several times. i remember a visit in February 2003. hardly ANY lines anywhere, and i rode the tower of terror 10 times back to back with no wait. fast forward to july 2010, with my 4 year old daughter. lines everywhere and insane wait times. disney has the power to change things and to stop these insane wait times...but here is the other side of that argument. insane wait times=people buying all their overpriced food and merchandise in their gift shops that you can get off disney property for HALF of what they charge in the parks. hence why disney isn't going to limit park capacity.

or make a park section for disabled people that way those with disability will be in their own park and not have the resentment of the normal people. Disney is rich enough. Look at how much the disability consumer has exploded. The Park is now bottle neck. I believe this year had a boom of 5 times than last year.

Disneyland's disability program is so terrible, we have not gone in 17 years. They also need to train their employees that autistic people typically fixate on one ride or attraction and that isnt an opportunity to be a jerk 🥴

On TOP of this a lot of people park in handicap spaces and they're not even elderly, in a cane or something, a wheelchair or even special needs, it's a big struggle for my mom when perfectly healthy people park there. I mean it's not a big deal but it's REALLY annoying
