Absolutely friend. When all said and done, I have been in the hospital and rehab for 90 days. My wounds still won't be completely healed, but it is a great start.

Hi, Dennis. You sound pretty good. And those blood glucose/A1C numbers are excellent. Glad you'll be getting the extra protein for healing. My phone was on the fritz all weekend, had to go to the Flour Bluff Wallyworld on the regular bus (couldn't call the paratransit, of course) to buy a SIM card. Finally got it working again. And I rode around WM on an electric cart, first time. Ms Leenite, the Terror of the Aisles! Hope you get all the help you need, for as long as you need it. I have noticed that when you have any "Bumps" in the road of life, after the initial impact from the bump, you always stay positive and that positive attitude usually sees you through your situation well. All of this is great news, it seems like it is a long road to being healed, but we have to remember it didnt just take a couple of days to get those wounds and its no overnight healing process. Absolutely friend. I think either tonight or tomorrow the nurse practitioner comes back to cut some skin off my foot if they would like out-of-the-way to help speed the healing process. I wish they would've taken care of that at the hospital while I was already knocked out.

Good morning Dennis. You look like you're feeling better today. My husband went through something similar to your situation. We had no insurance because he was fairly healthy and couldn't afford the premiums for insurance. The hospital lied to us and said he would get physical therapy and occupational therapy at the skilled nursing facility he was in. We signed a letter of agreement thinking that he would get the therapies he needed. Stay on the doctors and that nursing facility! Keep asking them questions and making them verify everything. Also. Call your ombudsman and tell them what's going on. The ombudsman will get on the nursing facility's butt and make sure they're following through with ensuring you get quality care. Please keep doing your bed exercises too. It will aid in your healing. Good luck Dennis. As always I'm praying for you, my friend! ❤️🙏🙂

I am making excellent progress with my wound care and am rather happy that I am in charge of my own physical therapy. Fortunately, I got a good start when I was in the hospital and I've been, reading articles and watching videos on other things I can do. Basically once I'm on my feet it's just increasing the standing time and walking, capabilities

Good morning Helen. I have put myself in charge of my own rehab program. Copying what they had me doing at the hospital and finding different bed exercises online. I ate at the edge of my bed yesterday with my feet on the floor three times. Today I will stand up and sit down numerous times. Baby steps. No one's gonna watch out for me but me.

My husband and I were in Fulton on September 17th and you came to my mind and prayers, I had no idea you were in rehabilitation, but now I know why you came to my thoughts! This scripture from the apostle paul in the Bible has been a comfort to me when I've been hospitalized or gone through tough times, I hope it comforts you too. Think on good things! this too shall pass. you are doing great taking proactive steps to get better, we have to advocate for ourselves sometimes. Philippians 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. I would kill for a 5.2 A1C. If you don't know, an A1C albetween 5.7 and 6.9 is pretty diabetes. Anything over 7 is diabetes. Mine is 6.4. And I brought it down from around 8. I got it sll. Heary bypass, high blood pressure, and diabetes. Do what the doctors day. I had a heart attack 11 years ago and I'm still kicking. You got this.

When I was in rehab I would push myself around with my legs while sitting in my wheelchair . I got my legs stronger by myself and I was able to walk. They won’t make money with you getting well.

Thanks SO MUCH for the update! When my mother was in rehab I had to be there almost every day to keep on top of all the mixed messages. She complained about the coffee too, lol! You are so very fortunate to have that private room. Great job on taking charge of your PT Dennis, that must have felt pretty good! I was so hoping you would do that if they weren't going to. Can't wait to hear that you have been up on your feet (soon I hope), fingers crossed. 7 prescriptions, yowser!

I'm thinking friend, but by the time I get out of here, I won't need some of those seven prescriptions. I'm sure some of those are antibiotics that I will no longer need. I'll have to get a list when the time wears and see which ones I actually want to get filled. Stood up this morning for the first time since I got here. I'm gonna do that three times today. Stand up sit down stand up sit down. It's a big day. I've been doing my exercises so much that everything actually hurts. I do have some of those stretch bands coming at some point today

I know it's hard to do those exercises in healthcare but you will succeed! I think the name of the insurance company you were looking for is Progressive. Good luck getting all of that sorted out. I know it can be a pain in the a$$.

Hey Doug. Do you know when the hospital they had a bed that was longer and even wider. Pretty interesting. I fit very well in the bed here at the rehab although I do tend to slide down. When my feet hit the board, I know it's time to work my way back up to the top again. I call it my cardio!

You may be able to sign up for health insurance outside of Open Enrollment through a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) if you've experienced a qualifying life event: *Losing health coverage *Moving *Getting married *Having a baby *Adopting a child *Your household income is below a certain amount I think you qualify to enroll outside of open enrollment period Dennis. It seems like you are close to being able to walk again and that's a big step. Moving forward every day, that's the ticket. Stay strong my friend.

Hey buddy. That's a great suggestion on the protein powder but I've been trying to get water since I woke up at 5 o'clock. I really can't get to a sink to rinse everything out so it's protein bars for now. Someone just sent me a gift so I ordered two different kinds and then I had a box delivered yesterday. It's a constant battle to try to obtain what the doctor and dietitian ordered. Apparently those orders don't reach the nursing staff. Left-hand doesn't always know what the right hand is doing forces me to be the squeaky wheel.

Sounds like you're using HEB pharmacy. They drive me nuts. If you're on SSI you should be able to get a type of Medicaid. Best wishes pal.

I thought that once you hit 62 years of age (and start taking Social Security) that you automatically are enrolled in Medicare and they automatically take your premium payment out of you Social Security check before you ever even see it.
