Awesome. I've always thought going with the Pro model was a better investment in the long haul than to going with the base model. I've said for years that NO MATTER what, ALWAYS get the model with AT LEAST 16GB because it performs way better than the 8GB model, whether it is the MacBook Air or the Pro. I've been saying this for a long, long time. Now Apple coming out with the M4 lineup starting with 16GB of Ram as a starting point. Excellent and informative video as always.

Happy to see the local adjustment "AI" masks sync times. Its an active use task so I can see the difference from my older computer. I don't usually sync masks that often, but I can determine how long it takes to work on one image, and that's important for day-to-day work. Just for fun - mask sync from 1 to 10 additional 42Mpx images (subject, background, sky, ground) takes over 30 seconds on my desktop i7 9700K + RTX 3070... but AI Denoise is just 14-15 seconds for an image.

@ArtIsRight3 ай бұрын
Like previous years/gens with the number of nand chip used for varying capacity of storage, yes we’ll probably see a speed variation. But like I said before, even the slow one is more than fast enough. Most people won’t run into an issue :)
@davidligon60883 ай бұрын
Great! I use an A7RV! Lightroom import time is vastly different, depending on your import settings. It would help to know what those are for your tests. Another test I would like to see is preview generation, or do you include that in the import test? Another good test would be to select 20-30 object masks in a scene and look at rendering time to view. This is something that brings my 14 inch M1 Max with 64 GB memory to a halt. Finally, I don’t typically see a linear time differential, based on the image size, with Lightroom Denoise AI. Thank you for all your work! I know a lot of your tests are done by hand, and are very time consuming. I look forward to seeing your results! Oh, can you add the Mac Mini to your list? I’m thinking about adding an M4 Mac Mini for my desk and relegating my laptop, specifically for travel. Thank you.
@ArtIsRight2 ай бұрын
Just preview, no preset apply. Import is 1:1, hence preview generation. :)

Hi Art. Love your videos and I’m looking forward to all the upcoming tests! Did you consider testing denoise on LrC 13.5 in addition to version 14? I would assume it would use the NPU on M4 just fine. Would be nice to see the same test run on both versions.
@ArtIsRight3 ай бұрын

I would be interested in seeing some minimal testing, if possible, how Pixelmator pro compares in speed to CaptureOne and lightroom. Given that Apple will soon own the company it might be interesting to see how the speed changes over time compared to the competitors. None the less I am looking forward to seeing the results from the test you have already planned/performed. My current laptop only works connected to mains power. So it is time for an upgrade.

I need to look into Pixelmator more, the thing is that I don’t have automated script for those or a benchmark app such as Puget, it makes it difficult to test program like these. But I’ll take this into consideration
