I can't tell you how grateful I am. I really appreciate it. I did 2 different calibrations 1 day apart. On the first day I connected my calibration device (X-Rite i1 Display Pro) via USB, on the 2nd day I connected it via Thunderbolt. My suggestion for Apple Studio Display users like me: Do not plug the calibration device directly into the slots on the back of the monitor. Use a Thunderbolt connection.

In my experience Apple never stands by their warranty. So I feel like purchasing it would be a waste of money. Back when I had my iMac I had to email the CEO to get my faulty screen replaced. I had a broken camera lens on my iPhone and they wanted to sell me a whole new phone. So my thought is if I purchase Apple care they’re just gonna claim whatever is wrong with it is my fault and make me pay anyways

Hey, I’m considering a monitor for my filmmaking work. I need a monitor with accurate colours but Confuse with Benq PD2506Q and LG 27UP650 W both are at a same price but differs in LG one has 4K 10bit and 95% DCI -P3. Which one will be a right choice.

These 2 are not the best comparison, for this you have to look at PD2705U or PD2706U or UA model. These would be more equivalent. About LG 10 bit, it is done via 8 bit + FRC similar to BenQ. You are going to get a good display either way. From what I can tell you, BenQ does a better job calibrating their display in the various color modes at the factory.

1. USC - C is always preferred. No truncated signal. 2. Could be that an HDMI is used and if so you'll need to use the USB up-link cable as well. 3. Spyder X will work Palette Master Ultimate to calibrate SW272Q It can calibrate your laptop display but you won't be able to get the full gamut from it. Great Video as always. On Osx with PMU, i store 2 calibration on the 2 SW slots. When I recall calibration 2 for example on the display, Osx changes automaticaly the calibration icc profile corresponding to calibration 2 slot. for the rec 709 default calibration, PMU created an icc profile BenQ_SW_Rec709.icc. Osx Activates it when I choose rec709 on the display. PME did not have this behavior. So my question is: with PME when we change active calibration slot on the creen, should we change icc profile of the screen in Osx ? If yes, And i choose a native profile of the creen (rec 709 for example) , which icc profile must we select on Osx?
@ArtIsRight
@ArtIsRight 3 күн бұрын
Short answer is yes, you should change the Icc when color mode on the display change. For clarification REC 709, sRGB, Adobe RGB, etc on the display are factory pre calibrated color mode and not native profile. Now with that said if you choose REC 709 using the BenQ_SW_Rec709.icc that is included with the installation is not a bad idea.

Great review. It may stray outside what you normally cover, but for those of us that already chose the ASD and do photography and commercial printing, it would be nice to hear your recommendations on the best workflow settings to optimize everything since our Adobe RGB gamut is knee-capped. In other words, I currently shoot photos in Adobe RGB (RAW), open them in Photoshop with Adobe RGB profile embedded and after editing on ASD, either send to photo lab or commercial. CMYK press for printing. I used to have NEC monitors and understood that workflow, but still now sure I am getting the best experience possible out of my ASD workflow (like should I be embedding Adobe RGB still in my images? Setting ASD to D50 P3?, etc.).
@ArtIsRight
@ArtIsRight 3 күн бұрын
Keep color tagged the same. The issue is that since the gamut does not exist, there's really not much to do with optimization. Just use reference - preset mode, white point fine-tune and possibly calibrate it that is all one can do.

Thank you for the delightful introduction in the video, especially the upbeat and welcoming intro music! I've been a subscriber since the M1 MacBook release and have already enabled notifications. While I understand the intention behind frequent reminders to subscribe, perhaps they could be minimized for those of us who are long-time followers. This might make the viewing experience more enjoyable and less repetitive. Regarding the pen display, I've found that similar products can be a bit strenuous on the neck. Additionally, the matte display might not be ideal for photo editing tasks due to its limited contrast, and the 60Hz refresh rate may not meet everyone's needs. These are just my personal observations based on my specific requirements and experiences. A gentle suggestion might be to let the quality of your content naturally encourage viewers to subscribe, reducing the need for frequent subscription prompts. This could potentially enhance viewer satisfaction and loyalty.

I'm afraid KZbin does not have a system to serve different videos (yet) depending on the audience status (subscribed, not subscribed). Even if the channel author would make two videos (a ton of work, extra editing, upload time and bandwidth, etc), - no channel author that I know of does this- I don't recall KZbin having a system to allow to serve one version or another of the video to the visitor depending on if being subscribed or not. So... if anything, this would be a thing/feature to be asked to KZbin, really. You are seeing it video after video (like happens in all the channels I frequent) but the newcomers might see this video once and that's it, and it is studied that reminding of it does work, there's a lot of marketing advice pointing in that direction. In a long video, IMO the number of times he asks for it is relatively low (increasing it could damage the thing, though I have seen way worse). Yes, pen displays can hurt the neck and back of some people, specially those not being specifically trained to adapt to a pen display (and even if so, it forces a type of pose, more noticeable after long sessions, there's kind of no way around it). This is why I use pen tablets (classic "wacoms"). Xencelabs was first known by its pen tablets, indeed, and like with this, aiming for the professional consumer, in my opinion, rather like the cheaper market, like other brands did. I do have though a pen display (Huion), for "some use", fewer hours. I just do the most of my work on a Wacom pen tablet. I mean, there's always ways to deal with these issues. :). About refresh rate and matte/glossy, very much depends on the type of professional usage. I am an illustrator, and matte screens, besides not forcing one to deal with reflections that make perception of tones different depending on body posture (I know you can have controlled lighting, but in some situations that's not a solution. And I care about lights, I even have 6500K bulbs for best color on screen, calibration for D65, etc), when well calibrated (by hardware, with a colorimeter) the matte factor indeed helps in emulating more accurately the color printed on paper. The current tech allows enough sharpness and color accuracy despite being matte. The contrast is most often depending on the way they made the panel, the panel tech (if it's QLED, VA, IPS...), on the black levels (at least for a sensation of contrast), if the panel is 6bit+FRC (ouch...!), 8bit, or 10 /12 bit via internal monitor LUT (would help with contrast ratio, smoother gradients, and also to get more tones, better calibration) etc, etc, rather than the external coating being so much of a factor, at least it is more like this, these days. In the past matte screens were more of a problem (always talking about the best current tech, not lower mainstream products). When it's well implemented, it's not an issue. While glossy reflection can be a real pain for an illustrator, painter, professional game artist, etc, working at pixel level for many hours a day. Matte now, by many professionals, is almost as much required as a a panel having good uniformity. The basic refresh rate is totally fine for these professions, but would be a problem for serious video editing and animation. IMO, this pen display focuses more on the first group of professions I mentioned. Photographers also... they have been using for a while expensive Wacom Cintiq 24" and 32" pen displays, and as far as I remember it, all those are matte screens, currently.

@@3polygons I appreciate your point. To clarify, I wasn't suggesting the creation of separate videos. Based on my experience, the channels I subscribe to typically don't start episodes by asking for a subscription. Personally, I'm more inclined to subscribe when the content itself is genuinely interesting. While we all appreciate Art's work, it's important to remember that subscriptions should primarily benefit viewers, not creators. I prefer a more natural approach to subscription prompts, recognizing that some viewers may choose not to subscribe, and respecting their autonomy in making that decision.

@@ArtIsRight My "emotional outrage" was caused not by product, but because of reviewers, that just plug to this power bank a smartphone or tablet and exclame - "what a wonderful power bank - look it works!". And no one, including you, didn't do any simple complete test of it. Yes, if you just plug this device to charger with 65W+ power and goes to sleep, at the morning you find this power bank successfully charged. But this fact does not mean that power bank charging process went fine - it stop charging on the +/- middle since the temperature of its own battery became over 46C. After 18-25min, as soon the battery became cooler, it continue the charging. This is going not with mine power bank only. It is typical for each Storm 2 Slim unit. Is it normal? Next one - this power bank not able to charge any laptop that require 80-100W of charging power, despite that its Type-C port nominated as 100W port. Power bank just overheat and stop working. I need the hood on my sw321c during daytime, and the screenvar would be very useful at night time. as far as i know you cannot use the screenbar halo with a hood... so is a version for the usage with monitor hoods planned in the future? thank you :)

I hear you and it has been my suggestion to the company that they should incorporate these features. I am unaware of any future or un announced products from BenQ.

1) When you are using the k3 max via bluetooth these keyboard can wake up inmediatly/fastly after it was in auto sleep mode or it doing slowly as the k3 v2? Is there any improvement in that sense? 2) The battery duration of k3 max (1550 mh) is poor using vía bluetooth considering the improvements in the bluetooth performance compare this model and the K3 pro or k3 v.2?

1. Bluetooth or anything dongle for that matter on a Mac has some lag, the only one that does not is Apple. As far as comparing it to K3 V2, I don't have that one to test so I can't say. 2. I appreciate the question but again I don't have the k3 v2 in the studio and I am unable to answer this question. I might try and check out theirs or other online forum for answers on this.

not quite, it all depends on the workflow. the incapability of the SoC is more the limitation

Could I also use an older i1display from xite? also: why there is there no adobe rgb in the preset, only P3/srgb?

You can but won't get full gamut because this new display has a different spectral output. And there's no Adobe RGB because Apple did not calibrate that from the factory nor care to put one in.
