I'm also (too) deeply contemplating the decision. I would mostly like the nano for possible comfort. But I'm worried about it's resilience and durability. Any thoughts on that, scratches and such?

Fantastic Video!! I'm very appreciative! Thanks for taking the time to create and share such a concise, informative and organized video! This is exactly what i was looking for! I had to dig through multiple vids that went through meaningless aspects of the mac studio and/or involved unboxing footage to finally find this gem of a video!!! You da man!

hi Art, I'm wondering whether to upgrade from m1 max 32gbram/32gpu (I bought it 8 months ago for $1650, in almost brand new condition) to m4 pro 24gbram/20gpu version which is $800 more expensive OR 48gbram/20gpu version which is $1000 more expensive. I mainly use lighroom (classic and new eco version) and PTS, edit images with multiple layers and use built-in AI, denoise,... I noticed in your test, the overall power of m4 pro is 50% higher although m1 max is still quite smooth, is RAM capacity really important

Your videos guide me to calibrate my mac mini's external displays, my macbook air, my family's iMac and my mother's windows' laptop. It is just impossible to do all these calibrations without your video and your kindness! Thank you so much for updating these videos and sharing knowledge with everyone!!!

Great guide/review! Did you maybe also test the different print options? Matt, Glossy, Luster. Especially curious about the 'luster' print looks.

I’ve started using the Photo Preset configured to SDR 80. Before I simply left the screen at the 1600 nits and auto brightness and Truetone when editing photos. Using the preset has helped enormously in editing photos that actually print with good luminance. I’m now contemplating whether I should go the extra step, purchase the Calibrite Pro and do a full calibration as per your video. I’m curious though how much a difference will the full calibration make to the accuracy of the colour editing given it is reasonably complicated (albeit that following your video should 🙏 make it foolproof) and Apple presets are presumably designed to make the whole process easy. Cheers. Ed

On my PC equipped with an AMD Ryzen 9 7900 processor and a standard NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card, it takes 5 seconds to reduce noise on a 24-megapixel photo.

Art, BenQ just announced the new 5K PD2730S. I’m a pro photographer who works with Max. I’ve been desperately trying to hold out for a good 5K display with the connectivity I need. And the PD2730S is almost there, but it’s software calibrated. Is BenQ going to come out with a hardware calibrated version? In 5K? And for a photographer that much of his work these days is viewed online or an SRGB, with some light video work do you see this as much of an issue for me? I do still occasionally print on high-end inkjet printers, or have to prepare files for four color reproduction therefore would have access to devices in larger color spaces and I certainly would love to have my display as accurate as possible.

I'm going to buy the SW242Q I have the Asus PA329CRV it's 4k but as it has software calibration I opted for the SW242Q which has hardware calibration but the only thing I'm worried about is because it's 2k I'm afraid it won't be sharp enough for image editing !

500 total watts is awesome. And the 240 watt port is ideal for charging pads, laptops and e-bikes. And 6 total ports including usb-a port makes it ideal for simultaneously charging multiple devices while reducing desk clutter.

thank you for that video! watched it all and really understood whether i wanna go for the MAX or the PRO is efficient enough. In my currency its 9K difference in price for little-to-no-difference in performance. Especially since i dont use photoshop yet and i don't work with video at all so m4 max is overrated for me at this point. Thank you again very much for this, as a photographer going pro this was beyond useful!

Hey Art, love these videos. I did a factory reset and then calibrate my monitor using iDisplay Pro Plush for Panel Native. I noticed when I use the puck to select that profile it says "Adobe RGB" and the others are sRGB and BW. Should I change AdobeRGB to P3 and recalibate or does that make a difference?

When installing TOS 5.1 in F4-423 from the very beginning, where should I install the system (i.e. on which disk/slot)? I have 1 and 2 slot disks of 320 gigabytes each and they are intended for RAID1. The rest of the slots, i.e. 3 and 4 disks of 4 terabytes. Is it possible to install TOS only on the 3 slot/disk? Thanks in advance.

Artis, curious what solution you would use besides the cleaning cloth Apple supplies and the similar cloth the BenQ PhotoVue SW272Q uses. Both Apple and Benq recommend 70% isopropyl (IPA) while Benq in addition recommends a Alcohol-Free Screen Cleaner. Thanks.

Hello, Art! I'm trying to calibrate colors using the ColorMunki from X-Rite with Samsung's Color Expert Pro software. The software recognizes that a calibrator is connected but does not detect the ColorMunki at all. I've tried multiple solutions, including reinstalling drivers, testing on different systems, and reaching out to both X-Rite and Samsung support, but I haven't been able to resolve the issue. Have you ever encountered this problem before? Do you have any suggestions for a solution or an alternative tool that might work with Color Expert Pro? I really appreciate your time and any insights you can provide! Best regards,

HI, I have to look for a calibrator for my new SW272u monitor, from the reviews it is not possible to know for sure which is the most suitable for this monitor, the opinions on the net are different. Which one do you recommend bearing in mind that it will be on two PCs, one with Win 10 and the other with Win 11? Thank you very much

Thanks for this guide Art! Question: I want to create two presets in Calibrite Profiler, one for Photo and one for Pre-Press, and switch between them depending on my current project. Will the correct profile be selected when I change preset in the Mac OS display settings? Also, I did the "Fine-Tune Calibration" like you explained in the video, but do I need to do that again when creating my Pre-Press preset? Wouldn't this override my first fine-tuning that I did when creating the Photo preset?

I want to calibrate the display of my MacBook Pro with mini LED screens. Which would be better for me to buy, the ColorChecker Studio or the Pro HL? I want to achieve accurate results, and price is not a major concern; if one is better, I will buy the more expensive device.

I work as a brand designer using Photoshop, illustrator, and Figma and I don't care about the exporting time the most important thing for me is the experience and the seamless workflow, so does my M4 Pro 24 RAM can handle these programs all at once with some large files?
@ArtIsRight

you're welcome. If you file size exceed the amount of RAM that you have, then you should get more and I care about export time.

Hi, thank you for the excellent video! I’m planning to purchase the Calibrite Profiler for my MacBook M4 and my newly purchased BenQ PD3220U external monitor. Even when I switch the external monitor's color mode to "Mac," the colors still don’t match, so I’d like to calibrate both the Mac and the external monitor to align their colors. If I follow the same calibration process for both the Mac and the BenQ monitor, will I be able to achieve color matching? I’ve also watched your other videos on calibrating the BenQ monitor-thank you for sharing those as well!
