Very useful, thank you. My cistern had been taking a long time to fill (about ten minutes), with only a fine jet of water coming through. On examination I found the diaphragm was split. I fitted a replacement (price about £3.99) and with the help of this video it works perfectly. Saved me a few pounds on a plumber!

Do you have any tips for removing the big plastic screw? Mine appears to be stuck fast.

Water pump pliers - unscrew in correct direction. Don't overtighten - it will only pinch the rubber seal and weaken it.

@@johnelliveps8002 the lady asked about removal - not refit. If the thing was put on too tight and you need a bit of leverage then water pump pliers will give you that.
