Nice "How To". I have an '87 and it runs about 170° on a 30° to 40° day, just got it running a month ago. I always drill a 1/8" hole in the flat area of all thermostats when I change one out. This is a real big help by not having to wait until the thermostat opens up to purge the air out of the system. As for the humidity in the garage, I run a dehumidifier in it from the beginning of spring to the end of fall. I attached a condensate pump to it and ran the hose outside through a hole I drilled in the wall. 80° day with humidity outside and no humidity inside at 80° feels like 70°. I am curious what temp the thermostat was you took out and where you got the reusable gasket? Thanks, Steve.

I run a 185 Thermostat and the reusable gasket you can get at Summit or auto parts store.

I have just installed a bigger radiator. the old one looked ok, no leaves but one I’ve started cleaning it, the dirt and sand coming out wouldn’t stop flowing 😂 I have the high flow pump and this high flow thermostat. The temperature stays steady at 160F but as you said it seems a little low, oil only 180F. I would go for the 180f that is recommended by the engine builder (I swapped for a 383sbc) because you mentioned it’s better for a high flow pump in your previous video tuning wise it’s no problem for me, I change the scalars in TP

Sounds great, listen to your engine builder on the 180 thermostat.
