Just used your video for my 2014 Rubicon. Clear instructions made it fun to save lots of money putting on some O'Reilly pads. Back in business.

@dan Ortiz. We cracked the bleed valve to make sure there was no air in the lines. A solid stream of fluid came out with no air pockets. Then we pumped the brakes to set the new pads. The pedal was hard and high so no bleeding was required. All we did after was top off the master cylinder.

You did exactly like the way I do mine! Good job! The only time I replace the rotors is when they are looking pretty bad warped and all.

Well done, video was spot on for a 2012 JKU. Between you and a few other videos I saved about $500 doing my own brake pads today, but yours was the main video. Although I will say the 15mm shouldn't need to be tapped, just re-angle the wrench. Front caliper took a lot more muscle to compress. Used 11" locking C clamp pliers to compress using the brakepad was a very handy trick. I should send you a check, but how about a 'like' and a 'share' instead? LOL

its always good to change the hardware/clips when you change the pads...its cheap, so why not have it new and in perfect condition. Plus, its a good idea to put some blue threadlocker on the guiding pin before putting it back in...

Excellent video. This will help my wife practically do it herself (with me at her side). [Said wife is actually typing this :) ]

Never ever lubricate the FACE of a brake pad. This is your friction surface. Hence the use of Brake Clean. The oil should be applied on the REAR FACE of the shoe which contacts the piston.
@disney8866 жыл бұрын
If you take a close look he did apply to the back side that contacts the piston which is correct

on bleeding the brakes on a 2012 sport wrangler unlimited..Can you bleed the brakes without starting the engine or do you need to have the engine running in order to bleed them?

At 4:11 minutes , the inner face of the rotor has a gouge on it.. The rotor should be cut.

you should have fully removed you're calipers not to mention you forgot to lube the guide pins and you should always resurface the rotors no matter how great of shape you think there in,it will prevent gaulding and extend the life of the new pads

doesn't anyone have a damn video on replacing rotors for newer jeeps like this?
@chomomma078 жыл бұрын
This a pretty much it...once you drop the caliper the rotors can just simply pull off.
@chomomma078 жыл бұрын
Actually you would drop the whole caliper which is just 2 bolts behind the rotor and the whole caliper drops.

The second that I saw his Légs under the vehicle I knew he was a Saw Mill Mechanic , Backyard Mechanic or DIY Mechanic. The "2" words that should Always float in your mind before & 2 seconds bêfore working on Any vehicle is "Safety First". Don't talk about Suing the Customer ' cause the 1st words outta their mouth ís this ," Well, he's the Mechanic, he should know better !" And they're right. The young Buck beside him will be doing the same thing, so Ignorance will continue while working on cars. Auto Professional background Southern California 2/22/2020

You need to stop sitting with your legs directly under the exposed suspension. Many mechanics have had accidents and had crushed legs . Something to consider. Grab yourself a Mech Stool. Way safer. Cheers.

Slapping pads on old rotten rotors makes me vomit 🤢🤮
@BladeDoomer867 жыл бұрын
Word of advice to all you would be mecanics, before doing work like this on your Wrangler, think twice.. did my rotors/pads today, jeep ended up on tow truck to the dealer 😠 If, like me, you suck at repairing even the easiest stuff, then bring it to ppl who actually studied for this! rust broke 2 caliper bolts (damn salty roads). couldn't finish anything. Good jeeping
