Very useful video which helped me swap the transmission belt on my Atco GT30H. However, my clutch was rusted onto the crankshaft, so removal was a pig of a job, as no place to fit the pullers on securely. So its was a case of tipty tap and pry bar off the clutch very carefully as it has a cast ally case. Re-assembly I found best done by putting clutch and deck pulley together off the crank, and then sliding onto the now clean and geased crank. Best of luck to all trying, and thanks again for the above video.

Excellent vid. Thanks. Helped me out with the 1638H. Couple of differences. There’s a fan on top of the gearbox at the back so I put the belt over front and back first. Then lastly put on the spring clutch pulley (bit fiddly but manageable). No need to remove the front engine pulley on the 1638H, just undo 10mm bolts on the port side of the pulley and slip the belt up. Hope that makes sense.

I really appreciate you making and posting this video. Helped me understand exactly what was going on with my old 2005 Mountfield 1236M. A couple of minor design differences to mine old one obviously but generally the same procedure. Thanks a lot; greatly appreciated.

Hero - same as my Atco GT30H where a pulley seized and chewed the transmission belt. Answered my question regarding getting over the clutch assembly :)

Great Job. Just looked at my belt as it was making a lot of noise and its got lumps missing out of it and cracked all over. I did notice that the belt goes slack when pushing the break down. I will be following your good advise.

How do you tighten the belt to stop it slipping

Just what I’m looking for and very well explained I have the exact mower 👌 would this be the reason for it slowing down in higher gears on hills? Is there anyway to adjust this or checking if my belt needs replaced first ? They seem to be very pricey for genuine part .. 🤔
@cashmax2 жыл бұрын
This will be the reason it slows. The adjustment is automatic by a spring loaded tensioner. Once the belt has broken down/stretched beyond the amount the tensioner can take up, it slips, which will end in failure not long after.

How do you remove the drive belt reel under the motor, the one at the front, aften you have removed the bolt ?
@cashmax2 жыл бұрын
It just drops off the shaft or may need a tap. If you cannot remove it, just undo the belt guards on either side and you can do it that way instead.

How do I remove the blades on a Stiga 384m. Thanks
@cashmax2 жыл бұрын
You jack up one side of the mower. The bolts are 13mm and if you have an impact driver it's easier, if not use a block of wood to stop them rotating. Be sure to understand that the two blades rotate in different directions and the bolts undo the OPPOSITE way to how they rotate in normal use. In other words one will undo counter clockwise like normal, whilst the other will undo clockwise. Just look at the cutting edge to see which way each one rotates. I think there is a sleeve with a keyway that may or may not come out on top of the blade, be sure to check how it went on and don't lose the key of it falls out of the shaft. (They normally stay put)

Thanks for your reply I will give it a go.

@@charliefarlie4309 Think you will find the bolts are 14mm and if they are contrarotating one is left handed and one is right handed. and if it it side discharge they are both right handed.
