Six lug wheels you are supposed to tighten the lugs straight across from each other. The skip a lug pattern is for five lugs.

Yea and when the brake caliper freezes up cause he didn't grease the slide pins,you will be wishing you brought it to a real mechanic.

@@sammontiforte7472 Yep. It looks like he skipped a few steps for "efficiency" Oh well, manufacturers instructions are just an opinion, right?

You can use an old brake pad on the pistons to get them both down at the same time ;)
@Outdoor_style2 жыл бұрын
You can actually use one of the old pads and press it with the c clamp and it will push both piston’s in at the same time

Shouldn’t you clean/prep the wheel hub with a wire brush first and coat with a little anti seize before putting the rotor on?
@masonrosson19323 жыл бұрын
great video! a little hack if you're lazy like me, to push in the pistons, use your old brake pad and one c clamp to decompress your pistons
@josephcarroll63563 жыл бұрын
I do the same. Push one side in a little bit then do the other one a bit more and work my way down kind of evenly.

What did you use to get the fist set of bolts off? I was surprised when I found out I needed a T55 bit to get the caliper off. Not the same as the rear brakes!!
@CuriousKL2 жыл бұрын
Air tools definitely make it easier
@CuriousKL2 жыл бұрын
At 7:41 I advise to use a 'C' clamp and push the caliper back just a bit. It may make it easier to slide off.

Does the back bolt on the rotor right to unloose or left to unloose? Changing things now. 414 2/10/22

Should unloosen to the left, if looking from inside/under the vehicle

@Dustin T I've tried it both ways. From what it looks like, these are stock rotors. So 2006. They are not breaking loose so easy, plus I don't have the extra things ie longer socket wrench, breaker bar, things to give me better leverage
@DustinT2 жыл бұрын
Ah shoot! Might be worth trying to soak it in PB Blaster or WD-40 for a couple of hours. If you’ve got any sort of round metal tubing could put it over your wrench/ratchet for some leverage. I’ve done that in a pinch and had luck.
@DavidBSharpMusic2 жыл бұрын
@Dustin T was looking for a breaker bar. Unfortunately, I don't have one. I've already put everything together. I'll tackle it again tomorrow. The drivers side is past the squeaker mark and digging into the rotor. Thank you for your help.
@DavidBSharpMusic2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for all your help and tips. I finally broke down and bought a breaker bar and turned the wheel in to give me better access to the bolts. I also now know that the passenger side is righty loosey and the driver's side is opposite. That breaker bar really made the difference. Thank you once again for all your time on helping me with this project.

I know this video is old but would you happen to still have the link for the rotors? I’m running into the same issue where I keep getting smaller rotors, I need the 13 inch
@imonaroll9502 Жыл бұрын
99-02 small rotors in front since they had discs in the rear. 16inch rims 03-06 larger rotors in front since they changed and put drums in the back. 17inch rims

You forgot to spray the rotor with break cleaner to remove any possible oils from the factory.

Bro is there a hex bolt in the rotor that has to come off? I literally had everything off, wacked the rotor with a hammer several times and sprayed wd40 to try to release it? Any idea im stumped on getting this fucker off.. there's a lil hex bolt kinda close to the middle of the rotor "not where it slides on where u screw the lugs on".. I've never had this problem before normally a few wacks from the hammer an it slides right off.

What this guy doesn’t mention is that if u don’t open the cap to your brake fluid reservoir you’re gonna blow the seal on the master cylinder when collapsing the pistons to the caliper

I would recommend spraying the rotor with brake cleaner and wiping it down before installing. They often have a coating on them from manufacturing that can glaze from the heat of the brake pads.
