• Check belts and hoses for cracks, leaks, or oil contamination, and consider replacing them if they are 5 years or older
• Compare the new product to the old product
• Flush the system with recommended fluid type
• Always install a new remote reservoir, if applicable
• Always re-assemble using factory torque specs
• Vacuum bleed the system every time a line is open

Magic!!! I love it! Funny how there is no detail to actually explaining how difficult reconnecting the steering coupler to the gear box steering gear. C'mon son....

Do you need to vaccum bleed? I see most people dont.
@PWRSteer
@PWRSteer 3 жыл бұрын
Hi John, Yes in some cases people do not vacuum bleed, but the proper procedure is that every time a line is open the system should be bled. In some case the air will escape by itself, but the safer side is to bleed the system. Thank you, PWR

I did my pitman arm only. And now my wheel is 180° off (upsidedown) no I didn't move or spin the wheel out of orientation while doing pitman removal or install. Any ideas as to why? Literally pulled old part and installed new. 94 Dodge Dakota 4x4

Hi, Sorry for the delayed response! On the steering wheel being out 180 degrees, I assume the front wheels were straight when you replaced the pitman arm, even if you had the steering wheel in the proper position when you removed the pitman arm, if the steering wheel is not held in position, it can possibly slowly turn 180 degrees out if nothing is holding it, if it is top heavy. Thanks, PWR

01-2022 be advised that Ford used two type pressure hose ends for this period of vehicles. One used 'o' rings the other uses reverse flare tubing. Because some previous purchasers did not verify the reverse flare in the reman gear box someone tried to insert the square off tubing with "O" ring into the high pressure port and destroyed the internal reverse flare male brass fitting. Now Autozone has two damaged units that must return, and I had to find another supplier for the proper unit. My van is a 1992 ford e350 cutaway rv. I am now on my way to CarQuest/Advance parts to pick up another replacement unit and hoping it will not have damaged input pressure ports. Good Luck.

Hi Robert, If Ford used 2 different pressure hoses they would have 2 different gear box part numbers, and we would also have 2 different part numbers, this may be that someone at some time replaced the gear box on this customer's vehicle with a different box (they all bolt on the same way). If we can get the number on your box, then maybe we can cross it over instead of going by application. Thanks, PWR

This is a very nice video, but you skip the steps where you reattach the gear box to the steering axle. I have a current issue after replacing my gear box where the steering wheel in the cabin is at a 90 degrees instead of straight. I think I need to adjust that linkage. what do you think?

Howard, 1. Did you center the gear box, before installing it? 2. Did you immobilize the steering wheel before you removed the gear box? Thanks, PWR
