Ready to get a new set after a screw was found in the rear tire. Really check DOT dates on tires. Found some tires in local stores were from 2020 three years old. Thanks for the video.

If it takes you 3 or 4 years to hit 10,000 miles on your wing maybe you should sell it.

The only item you really needed to replace due to wear was that rear tire. The wear indicattors on the front tire were not yet exposed. Even your front brake discs were not "through" their wear indicationrs and the rears were not even at half of their service life yet. I also tend to change out tires a bit early, but I just keep an eye on the brake pads and change when the wear grooves are breeched. Good time to change fluid too.

The old brake pads looked fine. The front tire didn't look bad either. Worn but not worn out. Seems like the only thing needed replacing was the rear tire. I like the jack stands method of stabilization. I learned something new. Thanks!

I strongly recommend for you to get Harbor Freight, older style bike jack. Its a life saver. few inches up and you can do almost anything, simply and less back braking. Just make sure to strap her down. For 150 or so, its a good buy.

How do you feel about Honda's claims that the front caliper bolts should be replaced when removed. I don't buy it. Although I did just purchase them just in case LOL.

Your rear tire looks like it worn down by its one side more than the other. Do you remember which side was it?

That's a job I have to do soon on my new Rebel 1100DCT. I got about 10,000 out of the tires and the brakes. Your back tire was bad, really bad...lol

Get yourself a set of Centramatic wheel balancers to get more life and a smoother ride out of your tires. Eliminate cupping and easy to install.

Cant you lay these on the sides like the previous generation and pull the rear tire off that way?

So with the same bike I was able to get 16,000 mi from the Bridgestone Excedera OEM tires. I wonder what others are finding? I did keep on top of my tire pressure every other ride. Not sure how much difference that made. I did have passenger for many miles.

I got about 11,000 out of my front tire and about 13 out of the back. However my brakes in the front were shot at 11,000.

I got 13000 on my stones and then installed Centramatic balancers . I’m now at 9k on thsrmese stones and it appears I will get much better mileage this go round. Changed out front pads at 23 K and rear show one half pads remaining. Tend to use front braikes most of the time for trailbraking and inline stops. 34 lbs front 38 to 40 rear pressure. Florida pressures raise to 44/5 front and 45/9 rear when hot on long distance rides.

@@Doc832 Front brakes were shot at 17K rear seem OK still so I'm leaving them for a couple thousand miles.

Nice job. Would it be easier to do the rear brakes when the wheel was off the bike? Or was it easy enough to get to the pads...
@nyclimber6413 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! This go round I changed them out while the rear wheal was off (b/c I needed to get a new tire) but I have changed them before with it on. There is enough clearance.

What highway pegs are those? Do you like them? How hard were they to install?
@nyclimber6413 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Those are the Goldstrike 3-way adjustable highway pegs. Love them! Typically, on the weekends I ride 4+ hours at a time, it's definitely nice to stretch the legs out occasionally. Easy install actually. Good instructions and some videos out there also. An hour I'd say.

Any idea to the tourqe spec on the rear brake caliper 2 bolts ? I wanted to take it out to clean the whole caliper.
@nyclimber6413 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply. The Honda service manual (on page 19-20) says to torque those bolts to 45N-m (33lbf-ft). Hope that helps
