This is how I change my sprockets and exhaust on my motorcycle. I give a few Hints and tips along the way from fitting sprockets and alining the real wheel to working tips and fitting the exhaust.
As I say these are the way I do things and I don't suggest taking my word as gospel on anything. I am no trained mechanic! How ever I have been doing things this way for years and have never had a problem with my methods.

Great video, excellently explained and super quality. You've probably explained more in 30 minutes then most people learn about their bike in 5 years or more of ownership. Hopefully you do a video on the replacement seals. You should talk to Sinnis, see if they can give you parts to 'build'/ the bike. It'd make for a great informational series and promote their brand and bike far better then any bike out there on youtube so far.

Gunna get this bike in black. Starting to see why it's important to know your bike inside and out. Normally I would just take it straight to a garage, but to see how simple it can actually be to do it yourself helps a lot. Just a bit of time and effort really. Cheers mate. :)

If the wheel is binding in certain spots then it may be the disc but my YZs front wheel was really sticky in general and what it ended up being was too much dirt making the calipers pistons not return all the way back in. Cleaned it out and spun like a dream!

my bike had an emissions return I just put some garden hose on the pipe and put a bolt and jubilee clip on the end of the hose. Emissions return doesn't do anything anyway just pumps a load of crap back into the engine reducing the quality of air, making it breath terribly (Basically it's a restricter and a money waster, and no it does not effect MOTs, Tax or break laws by removing this)

@@tortron no its very rudimentary form of erg, ive seen it called "secondary air system" "EGR" "anti pollution valve" nowadays all 125s are fuel injection and have computers that get unhappy if you take this stuff out but 6 years ago you could still buy 125s that were carburetted meaning you could remove any emissions devices and restrictors and pretty much get away with it, making some power in the process.
@tortron
@tortron 3 жыл бұрын
@@kester135 Ah the egr thing on some of these engines. Yeah get rid of that. The stupidest thing ever is the exhaust air injection to "lower emissions". Can still buy carb bikes over here with no emissions stuff, I bought one last year, it was tuned rich too. I think that changes next year with all new bikes needing abs etc.
@kester135
@kester135 3 жыл бұрын
@@tortron yeah in the uk the new euro laws made it so all bikes had to be fuel injected and be fitted with either anti lock brakes or brake balancing valves as of 2017.

spicy! you actually dont set the chain tension after your weight. if you would the chain would snap for light people when the suspension compresses because the chain is under full tension (length) when the drive shaft, swing arm axle and the rear-wheel axle is perfectly straight. but i do as you do still but i compress the suspension allot more then you :) but on the other hand i only use specs when doing if for others if its any bigger then a 160cc
@coast2coast00
@coast2coast00 10 жыл бұрын
yup.. the anal way to do it is to use a ratchet strap through the wheel over the seat to compress the suspension so the three points line up and then adjust your tension. Then you measure your chain again on the side stand so you can tell easily in the future how tight or loose your chain is without compressing the suspension.
@spicy110
@spicy110 10 жыл бұрын
If I were to set the chain to the sort of tension people suggest it would be too tight when I sit on it, I was just pointing out why I leave my chain loser than most people would, that was my point
@100GTAGUY
@100GTAGUY 10 жыл бұрын
I'd use the specs on any size bike. I've snapped a chain because it was too tight for the riding i was doing, bottomed out off a jump and the chain snapped, whipped around, and damaged my engine case very badly. It saves lots of money in the long run if everything is nice and proper on any machine.
@iankearns
@iankearns 10 жыл бұрын
All comes down to quality of parts and bike manufacturer if you 'trust' the manufacturers recommendations. I rode a Varadero for a couple of years and you should always tension the chain with the wheel off the ground (ideally on centre stand or alternative) and dont tension one side complete without doing the other at the same time. Do both sides together; 1 flat turn at a time (if hexnut) and total chain drop should be about 2cm or 1 inch in old money (yes I know that is 54mm difference however the difference in actual chain tension is negligible and will likely stretch that immediately) I now ride a shaft drive bike so not a concern but knowing how to do it properly is important. Using quality components such as D.I.D is important but if chinese bikes require chinese components then you have to go with what you can. And as a footnote; TAF is never good enough, always use a torque wrench.

take the head apart to remove egr gasket?? maybe you don't know an awful lot.. it's a £5 gasket made of steel, all you do is place it between the metal egr pipe and the cylinder, replace stock bolts and you're done. Takes 2 minutes. if you upgrade to a different filter you can plug carb vacuum hose with a £1 rapid fit plastic hose blanker or anything else you find lying around that will fit the I.D of the hose. @@spicy110 hi mate so like a decent rear sproket as last one broke and all bolts snapped and also my throttle were the kill swtich button is on it keeps moving, what's best way to preveent it from keep turning
@spicy110
@spicy110 4 жыл бұрын
I take it this bike isn't new, this sounds like a classic case of being worked on by an inexperienced rider. The throttle housing should have a metal pin inside that goes in to a hole drilled in the bars. When the bars are changed to something else you need to drill that hole but many just take the pin out and that's not safe. You will find the throttle housing is on Chinese motorcycle parts online. The sprockets wear and need replacing every year or 2 depending on use but when you change the rear sprocket you should change both sprockets and chain at the same time. If you put a new sprocket on a old chain, the sprocket won't last nearly as long and the chain has a high chance of snapping in time. You can get universal sprockets or find some made by a company like JT they aren't too expensive but they are stronger than stock. The broken bolts indicate that the bolts were not properly torqued up enough and the sprocket was able to move. Also likely the chain was not adjusted correctly for a long time and the repeated impacts from going on and off the throttle will weaken the studs until they shear off. It would be a good idea to get the rest of the bike checked over by someone who "really" knows what they are doing or even a professional. I think this has inspired a video as these are common issues, I wont mention names.
