The batteries have been gradually losing their range for the last few months, they really don't like the cold weather anymore. We have been reluctant to venture too far because it is far too heavy for me to push Jon and the chair on the terrain that we use. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, Jon had thought of everything so as I wouldn't get too stressed lol. The only thing is, he thinks he is married to Mrs Muscles, those batteries nearly got the better of me, why haven't they got a handle? Is that too much to ask? Anyway, a good job done, and we can now venture further afield.

I put in per battery 120 amp hour 240 AH in total and i was a bit shocked at how little there was in the suspension ! I also are adding 4 solenoids plus fabrication to stop traveling axel frame as it gives to much roll in some cases so locking up the up and down motion will add to stability ,Don't know if you can picture the following But It tends to pivot from the center section when free or unlocked but when locked it will pivot from the wheel Meaning it will take a lot more to roll it when rolling across the gradient if say a wheel drops into a hole the whole axle wont move or drop down on just one side . thanks for your video ! the top of the late model x8's leave everything on now as its hinged when replacing the batteries

I agree those bolts should be stainless steel and have spring washers on, good video 👍

Suggestion: Put a bit of red thread lock on those bits that sit loose on the chassis and give it 48 hours to bond tight before putting the seat back on to make them stay firmly in place next time.

Hi, under normal circumstances I would use a bit of thread lock but those type of button head allen bolts are terrible for the allen hex rounding off and then they are very hard to remove because of nothing to grab hold of. I will probably change them for 12.9 tensile hex head flanged bolts at some point and then just use a ring spanner which would be far better tbh, but thanks for the suggestion. All the best from Wendy and Jon in England

I agree about the bolts, but was not suggesting the thread lock be used on any threads. I was suggesting the use of thread locker as a bonding agent for the free floating spacers that the bolts go thru to mount the seat to the chassis that make it difficult to remount the seat. (Hopefully I'm making since with my description and those spacers are metal of some kind.)

@@RealCptHammonds Ah, I see what you meant, yes the spacers, they are a bit more difficult because they are loose, but we decided to slap some thick grease on them to help hold them and it seemed to work, but thanks for your suggestion.

@@disabledadventures4115 You're welcome. My chair came with the power leg lift as well as all of the tilt and lift functions for the seat, so mine is a bit different, but I'm always looking to solve problems with things, which drives my wife nuts. 😉

I wore out my bttery out in 10 months / 600km's. I go for a spin most days, so... I'm looking at lithium 100Ah, LifePO the same size, and I may catch fire, but I'm already threatening by stranding it.

I hope you put grease in the keyways or you will be hearing a tap tap tap tap after a while

Hi, yes we cleaned and greased everything, and turned the square key so that it had new metal with no fretting on so there was no play. I have bought some thicker washers as well and we will fit them in the near future. Thanks for commenting, always good to hear from people. All the best from Wendy and Jon

I have just watched your Sprinter video that shows the Ricon wheelchair lift and you using it on your own. We have been thinking of something similar but I can't work out how I could secure my X8 powerchair on my own because you can't have a dock underneath it and drive from it. I can transfer to a drivers seat if it rotates and some of them have electric rotating drivers seats. You have got me thinking about it again now lol

@@disabledadventures4115 hi there yes I have a Mercedes sprinter through motability But many of them are available on e.bay freshly off the scheme my lift is a Braun millennium 500 kgs heavy duty as my chair is a quantum 1450 and so with my self weighs in at 420 kgs the icons go to 350 kgs more than enough to lift you and an x8 I drive from wheelchair and its possible to strap it down to drive from but if your able to transfer you can get one with what's called a 6 way drivers seat which comes back and turns to you to transfer from your chair which you would have to strap down I've carried mine without strapping but I don't advise it as it takes extreme care and a steady driver , with a diesel cabin heater your self contained inside and its lovely to come back too a warm van after a ramble , im a keen birder myself so also use the van as a mobile hide ,the van completely changed my life . and helps me stay independent ,
