OMW! Wierd and Wild WV, you get serious kudos for what I just heard at just before14:34 of the video during your explanation of your definition of "subjects A and B". "In our opinion, there is not enough data to say that they originate from the same source..." Without saying it in the exact words, you just explained that correlation does not prove causation. I have seen numerous, very intelligent people that cannot seem to get that principle and avoid the logical fallacy. Just because two things appear to be something, does not logically mean that they are the same thing, or that they are even connected with each other in reality.
@wildandweirdjoe3 ай бұрын
Thank you! We've been trying for years to get that point across in the research communities, thanks for the feed back.
@paulandrulis46723 ай бұрын
@@wildandweirdjoe In my experience, most people do not actually know that to claim to be logical, they need to avoid using logical fallacies to begin with. They are the basis for the science of logic and reason. But for most, especially if they haven't had higher education, I don't expect such, as general k-12 often gives lip service to logic and reason, but never teaches the students what they actually are, let alone teaching the logical fallacies and how to avoid them. Most learn them in philosophy class in college. Where I get really irritated are the super skeptic "defenders of the faith," so to speak, the self-styled debunkers which are the people with degrees that have been through college level philosophy and should know better, but unfortunately use the fallacies when it suits them (red herring style especially) against their opponent and then claim the mantles of logic, science, and authority. Those type have no excuse. However, anyone trying to document something in a scientific manner needs to avoid the fallacies as much as possible, or they will not have any credibility when their work is examined closely. For instance, I like his videos and intent but Aleksander really needs to watch for Appeal to Probability (might be or probably is true, so other explanations probably false), Argument From Moderation (midpoint between two arguments probably true), and Argument From Incredulity (I can't see how it could be true, so it is probably false), as those are his weak points that he uses quite often in his videos. Avoiding logical fallacy will not guarantee that anyone is right, as thinking that it makes one correct in a discussion would be a Fallacy Fallacy -- but it will guarantee that they are examining and discussing the subject logically and that their claims are well-reasoned.

As time goes on, each episode may help to form some sorts of opinions and just to retrieve more data abt the strange phenomenon is always a good thing
@paulandrulis46723 ай бұрын
The problem with the field is the so-called experts cherry-picking their beliefs about the subjects they study. It is called cognitive bias -- specifically selective perception leading to a firm case of confirmation bias. They don't want to see something so discount reports of that, while accepting any reports that confirm their preconceptions. For these types of studies, a person needs to allow themselves to be data driven, in that the data leads you to a conclusion, not a pre-formulated hypothesis. We don't know enough yet to even hypothesize with any certainty. I applaud the WV group as well as they are not limiting their scope of study, based upon the general biases which are accepted by the majority. That notion is a logical fallacy in itself, specifically an argumentum ad populem.

It's risky but if you look all of the data you have to start asking uncomfortable questions in our opinion. To be honest we do not know exactly what these phenomena may be? I really admire the fact that more and more people are taking a broader range of phenomena on board as worthy of study when approaching the subjects of cryptids, UFOs, etc. I think it goes without saying, (but I am going to mention it anyway,) that HUMANS can absolutely exhibit abilities such as: telepathy, precognition, clairvoyance, telekinesis, astral projection, and many other skills besides. This is not mere speculation, but has been proven under laboratory conditions by multiple studies at multiple universities, and these skills have even been studied and deployed by the armed forces and intelligence agencies of several major world powers, including the US. I mention this because, if sasquatches are in fact our closest living genetic relatives in the animal kingdom, (and many factors such as appearance, behavior, and DNA suggest that they may well be,) then we really ought to take seriously the fact that they may be able to utilize skills that humans utilize, including the list of "psychic" abilities I mentioned above. We know that sasquatches speak some type of language, and that they use tools at times, so who's to say that they aren't capable of "mind-speak" or of heightened states of awareness? I think that it is very likely that these creatures DO possess abilities that may at first seem "outlandish", however the less ignorant we become about what HUMANS are capable of, the less outlandish it seems that sasquatches may in fact be capable of similar feats as well. If this turns out to be the case, then it will go a long way toward explaining why these creatures have been so difficult to corner or surprise with cameras and other trickery. I think that it would be a shame to dismiss such possibilities out of hand simply because these things are difficult for most people to understand. Obviously we still have a great deal to learn about these creatures and obviously, so far, we have consistently underestimated them. Good luck out there, all you brave researchers who venture into the forest! Good luck, and Godspeed! --N

When they were exploring the side of the hill where the tree knock occurred one of then stated that this is “unnerving.” It probably was for them, I, on the other hand, find it exciting and compelling. I’ve only had one encounter and it was a long, long, long time ago. I was young so I was afraid at the time. Now days I’m so curious and feel extremely compelled to find answers because I no longer feel any fear. When I hear something I move towards it, maybe not very smart, but I’m willing to risk my own safety to get the answers I need.
@wildandweirdjoe4 ай бұрын
@@xXxDarkSoulxXx oh I was excited, until I was able to see everything from the perspective of whatever made that knock. Whatever it was could see the entire valley we were in and was clearly observing us. It had the advantage, which as a military veteran that automatically makes me uneasy. it's also likely the same thing that I heard the first time I was there pouring the plaster. It's cool, and I've been back several times since but it's still unsettling looking back and knowing how vulnerable we were at the moment.
@xXxDarkSoulxXx4 ай бұрын
@@wildandweirdjoe I completely understand Joe. My encounter took place in 1969 outside of the east gate to Yellowstone National Park. I was 12. My face was only about 10” from the creatures face, separated only by a single pane of RV glass. It could have reached through that window if it wanted to like it wasn’t even there. But we stared at each other for maybe 25-30 seconds. I was in sheer terror. I had never heard of Bigfoot, to me, in the aftermath, in my mind I saw a monster. It wasn’t until years later when I was in high school I saw a rerun of the show In Search Of that was about Bigfoot. The second I saw the first drawing/animation of the creature I knew instantly, I finally had a name for my monster. I never told another living soul about my encounter until two years ago. I met a local researcher here in MI and we became fast friends. He has an extensive catalogue of sighting reports, hundreds, and has them in a spreadsheet so he can search by any criteria imaginable. He and I, along with another researcher are planning a research outing for late this summer. I understand Sasquatch are wild animals, but I would make an attempt to approach if it let me. I’d stay low and in a submissive position to show I’m not a threat. Depending on its response I would continue advancing or I’d freeze and back off. Because I’ve been so close before I’m not afraid to try it again. I know it’s different circumstances and not the same creature, but besides the terror I felt when I was face to face with it I also felt and saw the curiosity in its eyes. I’m not sure why but I had a strong feeling that it wasn’t there to harm me nor did it see me as a food source. I saw his eyes move, I saw the skin around its mouth twitch, I saw the skin around the eyes wrinkle as it squinted trying to get a better look at me. It wasn’t a man in a monkey suit, it wasn’t my imagination or a nightmare. It was as real as the screen you’re reading this from. And that’s why I need to get close to another one if it will let me. I don’t want to be hurt or killed by it, but if I was, the world would have to take a new look at the reality of its existence. That is if the authorities and/or the government don’t cover it up. You guys keep up the good work, I loved the video and look forward to more. I love the Small Town Monsters crew as well. Seth Breedlove, Eli Watson and Alex Petakov, so keep pushing and we will get our answers eventually.

I’m from Northeast Pennsylvania. Back in 1989, had an experience that I will forget. I have tried telling people about it throughout the years but they look at me like I’m crazy. I was 17 yrs old at the time, went “parking” in a field that was surrounded by woods that power lines went through. I started seeing orbs but not in direction of the lines, then hearing what I can describe as wind chimes, like smaller chimes. There were weird things going on that night while sitting in the truck in that field that we just blew off until we got out of the truck to go to the bathroom and let me tell you, The only way I could describe it. It sounded like a T-Rex screaming at us… I never got into a truck so fast in my life. After I was able to process what happened I didn’t know what to think. What the heck it was that night.Was it a Bigfoot, was it people trying to scare us but after finding this channel less than a year ago I am convinced it was absolutely Bigfoot. I 100% believe .

Hello from Singapore, are Sasquatch appearances caused by alien portals or some portals similar to the skinwalker ranch? And thats why its so difficult to actually capture footages of Sasquatch/bigfoots?
@wildandweirdjoe3 ай бұрын
Short answer we don't know. Current data sets show that there is a physical creature as well as something that we refer to as "bigfoot like". The bigfoot like entity looks similarly to what we call bigfoot in the sense that it's big, hairy, and bipedal but that's where the similarities end. We need more data.
@WildandWeirdWV3 ай бұрын
Hey! Great question. As of right now as Joe said, we simply do not know. We need far more data and after that we will need serious peer review. First we need to agree to look at the data without bias and then we can address what those words may mean and their implications. The biggest issue right now is that there seems to be overlapping data sets that can cause confusion, so as of right now all we can do is continue to get data, have these discussions no matter how uncomfortable they may be at times and collectively look for some answers. The fact that we are here right now asking these questions in a broader group means there is far more hope at one day getting those answers than there used to be imo. Thanks! -Ron

We personally have not seen any data that supports a 10 ft creature at this point. Most of the sightings we have investigated are around 7 to 7.5 ft mark but either way, we don't know where it hit exactly, if that is what we heard at all. We simply put forth the possibility that based on what was observed and the location, that the tree made a very good possibility since it resonated extremely loud due to being hollow. Great question BTW!

@@TheSorcererAhrimanahsul our database, while having sighting reports boasting 10ft creatures, usually measure out around 7ft during the recreation of the sighting in person. Also, I did look up and down the trunk of the hollow tree, I didn't see any marks up or down due to not having any bark and the tree being very bleached and dried. We didn't have this kind of audience when we started breaking into the research community in 2017. When we started doing this no one was paying attention and camps had been drawn. The folks who were investigating the phenomena and the folks in the BF community were at odds with one another and the very few individuals in the middle were still being ostracized. Also, we're very clear with who we give credit too and who our influences were going back to the 4 horsemen in bigfoot and keel, barker, valle, and friedman in the UFO/high strangeness dept. In future episodes you will see how long we've been working in certain areas, collecting baselines, generating databases, and mapping projects etc. we're not claiming this is anything new or that we have solved any kind of great mystery, actually quite the opposite. This is just the first episode of several. also on the other end, while we can could show how thorough and concise our data collection styles are we have a limited amount of time to present a story/ data set and don't want to bore anyone to sleep, so we have to move things along from time to time.
