Oil bottles come with the mouth (opening under the bottle cap) offset for a reason. By holding the bottle the way you did, with the mouth toward the machine, the oil is guaranteed to glug, causing the stream to surge and deminish, making it harder to hit the opening. Turn the bottle around so the mouth is toward the pourer. When you pour the oil it will flow in a steady stream and be much easier to control. Enjoying the vlogs. Your living my dream to build a timber frame house. It's great to see a couple work so well together.

You can put your used oil in a bucket of sand and store shovels and other garden implements. It will help keep them from rusting while not in use over the winter.

Love thy generator and your generator will love you. Regular maintenance should be the dance you do with your powered equipment if you want the love to last a very long time.

I have 4 Honda generators . I can put 2 - 2000 generators together if I need more wattage . I rotate the use of the 2000's every other day . I need 2 of them because I dry camp every year and the nearest town is 3 hours away . This way I have a back up . I use synthetic oil 10w30 in the summer months and 5w30 for the winter months . I buy my oil when it's on sale . Never pay full price if I can help it .

Check your manual...you probably have an air cleAner setup to change, perhaps a muffler/spark arrester as well.

Thanks Seth! Just downloaded the PDF version to my phone so I can check it more often. Yep air cleaner, spark plug and muffler inspections need done. DOH! Back to the workbench! We had a problem the other day we'll be posting a video about. Wouldn't run in cold weather. Turned out to be an iced up intake hose. Pretty annoying.

Yeah I wasn't very impressed with this video at all. Never speculate about oil amounts. If it's not clear as in the case of the EU3000i handi, refer to your owners manual... When you service any engine, generally the oil is just one aspect. The air filters are very simple to service on these and are every bit as important as is an oil change. These Honda generators will give you THOUSANDS of hours of service if you take proper care of them. I know a girl who uses an EU2000i at a camp she has. She goes there every other weekend all summer long and has been doing so with the same Honda generator for over 5 years and it's still going strong. She has at least 2000 hours in it...

Glad to see that you are getting a good long run with your Honda generator. My Xwife went through five generators in five years on the homestead, wondering if she ever checked the oil???

I would respectfully suggest that you don't use your socket and wrench to re fit the drain plug. Starting the thread with your fingers should ensure that it isn't cross threaded. I'm guessing that the sump is alloy and the drain plug is steel so it would be very easy to strip the thread out.

Your video influenced me on my choice to buy this generator. I bought it, used it a week later, and had to return it immediately. I carried the generator from my car for about 20 feet and the rear handle completely fractured. I started the motor, ran it for about a half hour, and shut it off. It worked just fine. I towed it back the 20 feet to my car over gravel and the tow handle fractured. I was shocked. So was customer service at Home Depot. They issued me a complete refund but now I'm not sure if I should try buying another EU3000i or if I should look into another brand. I wonder why this would happen. I did several online searches on this and found nothing.

+cookdough77 very odd indeed. I wouldn't say we abuse ours but it gets some very heavy use. Especially on the back of the quad around the property. Sounds like it might have been a damaged return and they just put it back on the shelf for someone else to have bad luck with. Home Depot does that crap. Hopefully whichever generator you get works well. Ours has been great for over 10 months of daily use.

Be sure to let us know how it goes. If you have problems. We're doing good so far, but that doesn't mean we won't have problems some day. With the new solar panels we're using the genset less so hopefully we're less vulnerable to issues.

Couple questions. 1 Can you say a bit more about the engine itself. Is there any visible tag identifying type,model whatever? (considering if it is needed to be replaced how much is gonna be). Is the engine sold as a spare part, or does someone refurbish these engines? 2 How often the oil is to be changed?
@j.verheulst2689 жыл бұрын
You can use the used moteroil to firestart your woodcutting slashpiles or to coat the parts of wooden posts that come in contact with the ground. It's a lot less damaging for the environment then bringing it to a recycling station using gas to transport it, using gas to recycle it or buying rot proof wooden poles that also cost loads of non-reneweable energy to produce.
@purelivingforlife9 жыл бұрын
I always wondered if you could do that. I see they use tar or something. I'll have to look into that as I want to make my own posts with our sawmill but wasn't sure how to protect them like treated lumber. One the list of things to research!
@j.verheulst2689 жыл бұрын
Wranglerstar treats his posts in the same way and lights his slash piles with it. I 'stole' ;-) my argumentation from him. But I fully agree with his arguments.

When your pull rope breaks soon, show how that's replaced. You may want to keep a spare rope on hand. Ebay.

if you Chang the oil every three tanks of gas it will last longer just something I have come to know I'm on my second Honda first one lasted nine years
@Zaphod78358 жыл бұрын
+david wise On this generator that's an oil change every 24 hrs or less... seems a little excessive to me, Honda recommends 100hrs. Might make sense on a gen set that runs a day or two on a tank though.
@hobbit321a8 жыл бұрын
I ran mine 24 7 for nine years and changed the oil every 3 tanks my first one I ran 24 7 and changed every 100 hours got 3 years out of it just going by my experience they get very hot I know it seems excessive but they don't hold much oil to start with
@doomedpoet7 жыл бұрын
once a year or so when you change oil get a bottle of the thinnest cheapest oil you can find put a lot of cleaning additives in it then exchange the oil using this mix run it for a half hour or so remove it and refill with usual grade oil recommended for your machine this flushes out any gummy pollutants in the engine and ensures the oil runs thru all the channel correctly
@blablabla25308 жыл бұрын
how about the oil filter ? doesnt that need changing or cleaning also

THIS VIDEO IS MISLEADING... 17 ounces! Fill to the TOP of the threads, not the bottom. The oil should be right at the point where it's about to start leaking out when the generator is level... When you do a how to video, you should know what you're talking about. If Honda sees this video, your warranty will be voided. NEVER SPECULATE! ALWAYS REFER TO YOUR OWNERS MANUAL. YOU CAN ACCESS YOUR HONDA OWNERS MANUAL VIA THE INTERNET FROM ANYWHERE. TAKE THE TIME AND DO IT RIGHT!
