Changing the PIVOT in Unreal Engine - All You NEED to Know

The pivot defines the center of a mesh for which rotation and scaling occur. It also represents the location of your mesh. In this video, I'm gonna show you how to change it.

hi Anna, in maya we have modify , Centerport in one click is their any shotcut bro?

@@GovindaOM-q9j who's Anna man? 😄 There's no shortcut, but you can set it to the center from the modeling mode. Ishow it in the video

when i try and edit pivot point in model mode - i hit accept and the object just shifts over instead of adjusting the actual point - any insight ?

@@AG-dj8zq that's one of the things you should consider if you have placed the assets in the level. In unreal the actors in the level are instaces of the main mesh. When you change the pivot on the main mesh, all the instances in the level move. So if you wanna change the pivot with modeling mode, change it before placing it in the level. If you have placed it in the level, you should either change the pivot in the viewport, or change it with the modeling mode and then move it to the new position in the level.

i hate how unreal deals with object origins i can bring my mesh into any software and the object origin is the same as the way it was exported soon as i bring it to ureal it could end up anywhere on screen and i have to go and alter something that never should of been change in the first place

It can be a little bit tricky at first. But once you get the hang of it, it's actually easy to understand why the pivot changes.
