Hi Steve, I have just completed this process on my 2005 DB9 and I followed your instructions, pretty much to the letter. I did not remove the slam panel or anything else for that matter. Yes, the front bolt on the reservoir frame is very difficult to get at but it is doable with a little bit of patience and luck. The whole thing worked exactly as you said in your excellent video and my steering is noticeably smoother and quieter. I would like to say a huge “Thank you” to you for making Aston Martin ownership affordable and more enjoyable as you give me the confidence to take on tasks that I may otherwise have thought twice about. I have followed a number of your maintenance tasks and other suggestions and they have all been spot on. My next task will be new pads and rotors, which you don’t quite cover in your videos. If anyone out there can tell me if you can change the rear rotors without having to remove the emergency (parking) brake callipers ( can you just split them?), I would be very grateful. Best regards Bryan

Even though I most likely won't attempt to do this to my Vantage (just don't have the garage space and many tools), the educational value received by watching your videos is phenomenal. And yes, I stayed until the end so don't be surprised! Thanks for creating these!

Hi Steve, thanks very much as this video was very informative and a great inspiration to me to do the same task on my own DB9. Just a note which may be of help for your UK followers is that when you now search online to buy the Pentosin CHF 11S from a UK supplier, it seems to have been rebranded as Fuchs Titan CHF11S. It even says formerly Pentosin CHF 11S on the tin and is still green in colour. I think that is possibly why in the comments below, Jabeica mentions the Fuchs and I similar to Jabeica used a little over 2.6 LTRS . I managed to get the Lubrizol from HWM Aston Martin in England. The guys there are very helpful and I am not connected to them in any way if any one wondered.

Thanks Steve - followed your procedure and all good. Slightly different reservoir fitment on 06 Vantage but minor. Most awkward job is breaking seal on pipe to remove from reservoir. Took 3 reservoir fills/flushes to get to clean green fluid. Took longer than 8 mins to reach 100c but got there in the end. Used 2.3 L of Fuchs for whole process plus 50ml Lubrizol (from BMW Germany as none in UK!). As mine right hand drive I did opposite turning procedure to you - not sure if that was necessary but seemed logical !…….now let’s see if I am rid of squeak and/or any other improvements !! Thanks again……..

Hello Steve, Thanks for the information, I checked my owner’s manual (2016DB9), the recommended oil is Pentosin. It seems they have corrected the recommended oil in the newer cars. One point that I want to add is that I know BMWs have a similar maintenance update from the factory and it is recommended the system is completely flushed and also the reservoir is replaced before Lubrizol. The Reservoir has some type of filter inside that is difficult to completely flush. Aston reservoir might be different but just wanted to share the information. Thanks for sharing.

Also that was a very involved and technical process, well done!

Thank you for you time and quality of information and job ! Please help me out I have 2009 DB9 24k miles when I turn steering very fast on when diving it’s make loud noise What do you think is that bad pump ? Please let me know
@Aston1936 Жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear about the noise. It could be many things. After checking the PS fluid level, and then doing a full flush, the simplest would be to check the FEAD belt (accessory belt) that drives the drives the power steering pump. If the belt is worn, or the tensioner is shot, you might be hearing belt slip under load. Best of luck. Thanks for watching.

@@Aston1936 thank you so much for reply I have new belt and new tensioner and fluid is leveled But didn’t flash it Maybe the bad fluid But maybe wrong belt Continental OE Technology Series 4061073 6-Rib, 107.3" Multi-V Belt This is belt I order and install

Hi Steve, I've got a 2004 DB9 and normally I really enjoy your videos but I have a problem with this one. I changed the power steering fluid last week using your video and the AM service sheet. I very carefully changed the fluid step by step but unfortunately when the time came to run the car the power steering pump was very noisy for the first few minutes and now the steering wheel is very juddery, the car is unusable at the mo, I just cannot move the steering wheel properly!! the pump is not noisy now but either the pump is now faulty or there is a massive amount of air in the system?? There is a bleed procedure in the AM DB9 workshop manual which I have completed a few times and the wheel is now slightly better and there is still lots of air bubbles still seen in the reservoir. So please be careful conducting this procedure, as i say I followed this 100% carefully with all the materials in your video and the car is now stuck in my garage until the steering gets sorted!! I feel there is something missing in this procedure which unfortunately pumps alot of air in the system!!!
@Aston1936 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing. The process I followed is the Aston Martin procedure from their updated service bulletin. You saw me do it just as its written, step by step. Generally the system is self bleeding with use if the pump is working properly. Troubling that the pump was noisy after the start up, perhaps it was running dry? Perhaps one of the hoses is cracked after wiggling it all around, or pinched restricting flow? Wish I could help you get it sorted. Thanks for watching.

Have to use the same CHF-11S Pentosin on my 911 Turbo. I presume it’s something to do with either heat resistance or viscosity consistency over time?
@trainwreck5973 Жыл бұрын
Couldn’t you just keep pumping it out of the reservoir while tirninh the steering wheel?

You don’t need any additives for the steering system. Thats a myth. I can understand using additives in motor oil but in steering fluid it makes no sense. It doesn’t seal leaks nor it makes the pump go faster.
