Step-by-step video showing the process of removing the cooling tube, draining the oil, replacing the filter, and adding new oil. My model is a JD 314, but the process is similar for other John Deere 300 series garden tractors.

I'm running ATF in my 316, someday soon I need to change the filter. I only seem to use it for tilling the past few years. I have others that I use for mowing. The 316 is the only one that can use the tiller.

Got a '78 316 w/ Kohler K341! The ol' girl still running! I made the experienced John Deere parts guy how do our local farm dealer refer back to his old textbooks to get the filter number! LOL

You can use Type F transmission fluid, as well. What I use in my 317.

Anthony kretowicz Is there a way to know what the tractor is currently using? I read elsewhere not use Type F after the JD hydro fluid had been used. Thanks

Well, type F is reddish in color. JD fluid is almost clear. Mine currently has type F, so that is what I am going to use to change it with.

I am looking for a favour. I have an older 316 that looks to be configured the same way as yours. I am missing the sight tube and can not determine where the bottom of the tube goes. Could I ask you to get some video of where the line leads on yours if you still have the tractor?

Does the 314 also have a screen under the frame to keep grass/leaves/etc out? If so how often do you have to take it off and clean things up?
@JasonMcGarvey7 жыл бұрын
Nope, I have to clean the clipping, leaves, etc. after each use.
