Such a great family channel, genuine, with so many smiles to b had. You may not get out enuf to notice the comparison, but you have totally AWESOME kids. Darren may b pushing to fly pretty soon, but u and Derrick have instilled such a strong work ethic in these kids they won’t disappoint. Hug them tight. It goes oh so fast mama. Emily is maturing into such a wonderful young lady, and has absorbed oh so much from you. I hope she loves this lifestyle enuf to want to carry it on, but even if she chooses another path, what she has learned about family and ‘team’ and character and the genuine love of watching and being a part of a dream come true stays with her forever. None of what u have built together as a family has been easy, but so very worth the sweat and tears and exhaustion poured into your wonderful dairy goat farm. And the blessing all of us get in watching this all take place in front of us just means so much.

Your children are amazing! My children grew up choring & milking our goats. My oldest son now has a large cow dairy & my daughter went to Iowa State for a double major in Animal Science & Dairy Science. She now has her own 500 head Goat Dairy. It really is true the outside of a 'kid'(goat) is good for the inside of a kid(child)!! And I gotta say, I'm in my 60's and still love working with my goats!! Milking time!! Blessings to your family both human & Caprine!! 😉

your children are fantastic helping with milking, i had my kids help on our farm growing up also and they are grateful for giving them opportunity to have responsibility and respect to the family home, i always said to the kids "you may not like doing these jobs know but one day you'll see how important it is to work and be self motivated and have achievement's and a good understanding of work ethics, we grew Lucerne hay we were irrigated so we had to move pipes and pick up bales and feed the sheep and horses, clean waters and do our chooks and ducks,. today my kids are all in their 20's 2 are police, 1 fireman, security, customer service, child care, farm agriculture jillaroo, yes i had seven children, and they know tell me that with them helping out with running the farm it gave them life skills for the future, so when i see your kids helping out I think how great it is and how much they will be learning from the experience, one day theyll look back and say 'Remember how busy we were with the goats and kids and the fond memories will come flooding in over the crappy days. wish i lived in the USA id love one of your babys, becouse of your family I'm know heading to buy land again and looking at goats, i really want to get it going here much bigger, so im learning as much as i can from you. oh happy days
@ubetchya783 жыл бұрын
I liked the way you used to tie them in turn, but with this many in milk there just isn't room (or ropes) enough to do that... 20 does, 2x a day will keep your hands and arms nice and fit. Once you get the paddock layouts figured out perhaps a covered milking parlor would be nice, keep the rain (as if) and blazing sun off of you and the does.
@caninedrill_instructor58613 жыл бұрын
Basically you're using that stall as a holding pen. A very smart idea milk stand training the next crop of milkers. We did a similar thing with our springing heifers. It saved us from a lot of injuries, and our cows from injuring themselves and the other cows. When a heifer was three weeks to a month from calving we'd put them in with the milking string. Once they got stanchion trained, we would, very gingerly, start touching their udders so after calving it wouldn't be a shock. Having them in the stanchions also got them used to the sounds of the milk pump, the milkers, and the sound of vacuum being lost when we'd move milkers from one pair of cows to the next. We always tried to "sandwich" a springing heifer in between two older, docile cows. Will you eventually be switching to machine milkers to milk the does?
