I would say that you need to get the balance from the scavenging effect correct in the exhaust. You want the negative pulses that travel back up to the exhaust port (after the gases have travelled down to the expansion restriction and back) to be timed correct so that the negative pressure pulse which comes behind, pulls the last of the exhaust gases out just before the port is closed and the inlet opens. A tricky balance to find but it’s possible with time spent.

Most exhausts are just for the sound, with restrictions. Here in Sweden they need to see you go faster than the legal speed to stop you.

Hi mark, I really need your help and advice with sorting out my gilera DNA. I've been watching all your videos to try and help get it running. I've changed the crank and put a brand new one on it and I have also bought a 70cc kit for it. So I've changed the engine. I've got this carb that came with it which says its 70cc however I just cant seem to get it running. I've been told to run a 115 jet on it and itll be fine. I've got a stage 6 sport exhaust, I've also got mallosi light rollers in with a mallosi sports air filter. Nothing seems to be working with it at the minute and feel like giving up. I'd really appreciate some of your help please

yes bud i know they do rust in bad weather condition i guess it comes down to you get what you pay for but i suggest washing off any road salt and maintance sprays will help they do sound good lol mark

Thomas Edwards hi bud As for restricted no not that I know , the OME one you have now will be As for getting the old one off just use a little wd40 on the head exhaust bolt so not to snap them and it’s all easy after that and new one on Sometimes it helps to upjet by 4 like in my upjetting video Please like share and sub Mark

mark savage i have got one that looks like original but the pipe is a little bigger , but it makes the engine go a little colder but that's it , Love my Baotian classic , as long as you check the oil often and adjust the valves every two months and it goes like a charm 😎

sounds like the auto choke is not adjusted properly and may need adjustment of replacing , have you tuned the air mix, cleaned the carb , changed the plug and air filter all this should help don't think its any thing to do with the variator

Hi. What do I need to do to run an open/small air filter please? I'm customising a Peugeot Ludix Blaster which has a doppler exhaust, the main jet has "66" on it, but if I even so much as touch the OE airbox, it bogs and cuts out. It runs beautifully with the airbox mind. As it will idle, can I fit an open filter and then try adjusting the air/fuel screw on the carb? Any help or advice appreciated. Thanks.

hi bud well if it runs very well as is i'd leave it bud, all you will get with the open air filter is a little more noise and not much else and as in my videos as soon as it rains you will get problems with it sucking in water ! maybe try a sports inside the air box filter then just a little tuning with the air mix maybe be needed and then the bike would breath a little better if you want more out of it next VARIATOR , check belt and poss upgrade the clutch please like share and sub and i have many more videos that may help ,mark

hi bud well i always say about upgrades on my moped videos and on my big motorbikes like in my other videos as for maxi scooters i would leave it as is as yes you would have to start playing with other upgrades and being a 500cc it must be fast as is and a deeper sound would to me not match the scooter maybe put the money saved into a good service and change the rollers and belt if needed these 500cc as set up well for mpg and mph so it's up to you really bud but me i'd leave it thanks for watching i have many other videos you might like to watch like the burmans 400 and 650 and others please like share and sub mark

As much as I'd like a muffler that looks better, sounds better and reduces weight, I don't want to create any issues on the bike. It does go pretty well with the OEM exhaust. Limited parts here in Canada for maxi scoots anyway, most people ride big Harley's and such,. Just given it a full service and getting the belt done soon too. One other question, I hope you don't mind... If I do replace the rollers, will I gain acceleration and lose top speed or vice versa depending on the set up or are there rollers that would improve on both? Cheers

ive got a firefox ajs 14 plate just bought it for 250 and just have a few questions basically i took it to the garage and they said that there could be a break in the spark plug wire but when i took it down the road and started it it sounded fine so a bit confused. also wanted to know how to loosen the kickstart because it gets jammed often

nice and cheap bike bud, ok a break in the ht lead? that is easy to replace. the wire breaks down inside and can cause it to short so if it cuts out you will need to replace it but more like a loose wire or short, I have a few videos on 125s which may help but i'd wd40 all the connection and make sure it's all ok first as you don't want to be out and it to breakdown !! as for the kick start take off the cover and check it out, again I have a video on kick start ok it's for a speedfight but its the same sort of thing and it will help but may just need greasing up! please watch my other videos and like and sub mark

Right need to rattle tour brain..when I bought my scooter second hand it was fine.then i had it m.o.t and it passed..but since then it started jerking after a couple of mile and backfiring.i cleaned the carb checked all the filters changed fuel filter to a larger one and also new plug..well now I goes ok for about 8mile then once you keep throttling off a few times for bends etc..it dies like it runs out of petrol.so I wait for about a min.then it starts and is ok again...apparently it has a 80cc bore kit but I can't get it to go over 35mph it's a tamoretti retro 50cc..also would the gy6-b upgrades fit

Neil powell well you know what I think of big bore kits But 1st Carb float may not be filling up so may need cleaning or adjusting if it can Fuel pipes loose or gone hard so change them if needed While carb is off clean jets Electrical problem so POSs stator but guess it’s fuel bud see how u get on Got videos to help

wd40, penetrating sprays etc !!!! why not try veg oil mixed with white spirit. add 10% white spirit or acetone to veg oil, this makes a very cheap and far better penetrating fluid than anything. why does it work ? well veg oil has the smallest molecular structure of all oils and it's 20 tines more viscous than mineral oils as used in wd40 etc

I'm having an issue with my speed fight iv took the original exhaust off and put a custom racing exhaust on not sure of the name of it but now its hard to start and struggle to move the back wheel when lifted off the ground will just bog out if you try and ride it ?

not clutch but if you want to upgrade or just clean and check rollers its a good idea ( I replace them any way as only a few £s ) as for the variator that's up to you see how it runs before upjetting and sometimes its ok as standard but only go up in 4s for the jet

Hi Mark I've got a aprilia sr 50 scooter it was running fine last week until I started losing the top end speed it usually does 40 ish mph now it's only doing 25 mph it starts ok but when I give it full refs when it's on the stand it runs a bit lumpy and it's a little bit smokier what do you reckon mate. With the original one it´s about 10 millimeter between the pipe and the pump, but with this one it´s just about 2. Will it be to close and hot for the waterpump? Thanks for your time. I've seen a few like that and once moving it genuinely stays cool and not melt. The air flow and moving water should keep it ok You could use a little bit of aluminium foil on the pump to deflect some heat or use a few washers on the bolts to lever the exhaust out a little bit more ,that's what I'd do

hi bud as in my other video on tuning the top one is your idle as you adjust the air mix you will need to adjust the idle so in will rev a bit higher out slower , adjust it so it ticks over just nice and not wanting to pull the bike or spin the wheel too much mark

I’ve got a speedfight 4 air cooled moped and I’m wanting a sports exhaust, I’ve picked out the Technigas Next R, the standard jet is 80, you mentioned that I should go up in 4s? So next step would be an 84. Would increasing by 4 work for most mopeds? And also when would I know that it’s been done properly and that I’m using the correct sized jet? Perhaps when it doesn’t bog down under full throttle? Any help would be appreciated thanks

hi bud, make sure playing with it doesn't effect the warranty!" as for upjetting , yes when you upjet it and it runs well and you get more speed out of it then all good. if it bog down or wont start /floods go back down. but 84 with a sports exhaust is a good place to start from changing the rollers will help a lot too bud thanks for watching, i have many other helpful videos bud ,worth a watch . mark

Hi mate I’ve recently bought a second hand ped it weren’t in great shape but thought it would be a project I’ve got it home sat on it and the seat isn’t water proof and has what I can only describe as brown sludge . Every time I sit on the seat it leaves my covered in it and it has a foul smell like something I’ve experienced after a curry , I’ve had a look at at the jet and it to has this brown stuff in I have a slight feeling that this ped has been in the bottom of a river for some time and has been sold to me as spares and repairs would you be interested in buying it it’s a crackin ped and I’m sure once u buy a new engine , carb , front forks , rear shocks ,all new plastics new liquid called system , exhaust and a fresh set of tyres will run like a gooden let me know your offers 👍

what sort of speed are you getting bud, do you want more power or sound, a sports exhaust will often fit on with no need to up jet and so on plus if you can find a exhaust to fit maybe more of a problem! if you can get on see how it runs then maybe look into upjetting by size 4 like in my upjetting videos please like and sub mark

So all you have done is change the belt ? Noises do seem to move around so if it wasnt doing it before I'd take the cover back off and check it's all ok Did you reset the rollers or change them as they can move and stop it from working properly I'd of changed them too while I had the belt off Just make sure you did move the plastic engine cover so it rubbing Or a wiring rubbing Is it running ok

hi bud as in my other videos i dont much like the cone / foam filters as they suck in moisture and can make it not run very well, i always replace the insert air filter and way it's up to you. as for the pipe if it lets out old oil i would not want it coming out onto my tyre !, oil and rubber don't mix to well lol it's ok not to fit it but i'd tyr and move it away from the rear wheel and maybe to the ofset front side hope that help thanks for watching i have may other videos that may help mark

I wouldn't mind a zip as a fun project but that one's too noisy, way too noisy, glad I'm not his neighbour. Would exhaust wrap quieten it down a bit? I'm showing my age here, damn that's one irritating little moped. Wouldn't be so bad if did 70 but that squeal's likely to hang around like a bad fart given how fast it goes.

Ant Laud as in the video bud it was a cheap exhaust for £66 and I would have bought the tecnigas one for £87 They are also good and a lot less noise This in is sealed and you can’t I have other videos on exhausts and how to quiet them don’t but you get what you pay for and I have to say it still had good performance even with it being loud Zip’s are fun little bikes maybe look at a few others like the speedfights I do loads of videos on for help Mark

Hi mark I was wondering if you could help me my moped (kymco super 8 50 2t) starts and I can ride it under half throttle when I go to give it more it just stops accelerating but when I go straight to full throttle it goes slow for about 3 seconds then pick up speed then drops and it keeps doing that I’ve changed the spark plug I’ve cleaned the carb there’s fuel going to the carb and I’ve adjusted the mixture screw but it doesn’t make a difference

Clouds hi bud look at the needle height Move it down but be careful not to loose the clip in it Very bad if you do Lol so may sure you have a cloth under it This should help but worth double check and clean the float in the carb too and the air fuel pipe is tight Then if no luck up jet as in my other tuning video Thanks for watching check out my other videos Mark

Rectro-V2 No and No that’s a bit silly to say a speedfight exhaust won’t fit an aerox Some 4t exhausts May fit as being a g6y engine but try buying the exhaust that fits your moped Some other end can may if the right diameter but really check first or your end up with a shed full or exhausts lol

Hey Marc . I ordered a exaust . Only thing where it bends to bolt to engine it won't reach . The factory exaust is about a inch longer from the bend .Im thinking if removing center stand bolting exhaust to head . If center stand won't bolt back mabey use some type of spacers . Have you heard of this ? Appreciate if you can give any information on this . My house burned down about a week ago . I used to be able to walk to my work now I'm going to have to start driving . Will the new exhaust still work without to much modifications ?

George Jennings sorry to hear about your house bud If the exhaust doesn’t fit it’s not the one for this moped I would take off the stand bud Nor force it as it will stress the pipe or bolts and break so go back to standard or buy the right one for the year and make Or cut the old pipe next and weld it to your new one ! That would work bud

@@marksavage .It will bolt to head . and the other support brackets will match up . That being the case is it ok to try or should i just start over ? Its a 2 piece thing. The muffler bolts on . So if i can just buy a front piece ....... Hopefully . Thanks. Its been an interesting week . Found out a lot of decent people out there though .

George Jennings get the head bolts and bolted on , make sure it fits with knocking or catching You can alway make a extension bracket to support the end can part Just make sure it all fits nice otherwise it will snap bud

So Mark, ive put a sport exhaust technigas on my gilera dna with a 70cc group, i also have a sport air filter, but my bike will not run properly, it reaches 20kmph and only then reaches higher speed but getting to 20 it takes like 100 meters to do so, im a farely heavy guy any tips on what to do?

Hi Mark just bought a Doppler sports exhaust for my speedfight 2 100cc 2008 model I been told to upjet my carb by 10% think I have an 83 jet atm so upjet it too 91 ?? Is this correct also im struggling with ordering a Kevlar belt as mine is a Catalysed model and I can only find non cat belts unfortunately, apparently they don’t sell them no more?? This cat and Non cat is confusing me to be honest. Pm tuning told me I have to get a cat belt and a cat variator as my moped is catalysed from new?? Would appreciate very much if you could help me thank you

Hi bud Ok 100cc don't worry about the belt as long as its for the 100cc and nota 50cc as the neck has a smaller opening Rollers 10g but weight what's in there now and if ok leave or use the same I'd fit the exhaust 1st to see how it runs as it should be OK And sometimes if you go too big it will bog down Of its happy once the exhaust is changed Don't worry about all that CAT chat it will be fine To be honest I did up a 100cc and over 70mph it gets a little scary lol ! I got 80 and the 1st bend I didn't think i was going to make it round lol Parts for the 100cc are hard to get so double check first bud

Ideally I want a Kevlar belt tho but can’t seem to find any for the cat model and I also wanted to buy the Malossi multivar variator for cat model what would you recommend I do to get it going that sort of speed? @@con7993 the sports exhaust will help massively Sport in box air filter 10.5 or 11 g rollers Sports variator or take the plate off the back No washer and make sure its all clean 5 up jet from standard so for not leave test ride Make sure tyres and suspension are OK like in my videos At that speed you'll know if now !! To be honest most run so much better with a sports exhaust you don't need to uojet But I'd go from 56 or to 60 and add a sports inbox filter Way more pull away and top end 6g rollers and clean Your good to go

Ok thanks for reply big guy.loveyour videos I took it out and it seems to run smoother ok without it but not as quiet .plus without it in exahust pipe the compression is smoother .no jerking and goes right on up in rpm till full throttled .it's put it back in because I kinda like my quick take offs .thanks again

Mark i have a nother problem with my speedy 3 i fixed everything i also put 6gr and 8gr rollers it pulls fine and it rides fine BUT if i hold full throttle for a while it dies with a VIOLENT sound and its pissing me off i really wanna go fast but i cant it dies whats the issue? If i dont give it full throttle all the time it rides perfectly fine and its quite fast.

HyperRacing hi bud Sounds like it’s heat seizing with that noise Does it start up ok after dying ? Check over everything Try putting it on the stand and the wheel off the floor then test it to see where and what’s happening Mark

HyperRacing you are going big to have to look at petrol or electrics I had a bike that the stator coil once it got hot it would go to earth It’s going to be a bugger so I’d start with changing plug and coil Clean stator coil Then if no luck more to fuel so vacuum carb and so on Mark

Mark why is my exhaust really really hot . And I think my throttle cable has stuck because my bike is reving really high and the throttle is really stiff

hi bud exhausts do get hot so don't worry about that but revving high will have something to do with that watch my tuning video this should help as your idle is too high, but maybe your cable could do with some WD40 or replacing try taking out the needle and see if it's fitted correctly and moving up and down ok, sorting this out should help the bike plus the belt as it will be wanting to go all the time hope that helps i have many videos that should help mark

Thanks for the advice mark tryed all the idle mate . But come to my conclusion I did hold the throttle in a tiny bit and it's just stuck there mate . No I'm at a different point cause now I've had the carb of my bikes not sparking now . One thing after another

the newer the moped the more restricted they are bud sorry to say , start with the exhaust this should help then move on to the variator maybe a sport variator and heavy rollers for more top end , no upjet for now but you may have a restrictor in the carb but it its cdi restricted it will pull away better but still only do 30 mph
