Border View Farms

Күн бұрын

Border View Farms is a mid sized family farm that sits on the Ohio-Michigan border. We raise corn, soybeans, and wheat on a little over 3,000 acres.
My name is Nathan. I run this channel and farm with my dad, Mark and uncle, Phil. I started making these videos in the fall of 2019 as a way to help show what I do on a daily basis as a farmer. I get questions about how and why we do things on the farm frequently, even from my own family members, so to help explain things it's easier to just show you. I hope that I can address questions or concerns that you might have about farms and agriculture in general as well as dispel some of the common misconceptions.
I hope you enjoy my content and please ask questions as you have them. I do my best to answer anything I can.
I appreciate you subscribing to my channel and liking my videos.
You can reach me through messages on Facebook or Instagram @borderviewfarms or by email bakernth@gmail.com. Please don't call my parents house!

Your tire guy is a pro. Patching those splits will likely prevent the tire from compromising the tube. Not all tire techs would have A) noticed those splits and B) installed a patch to cover them. 👍🏻

Someone like me who, in fact, is a tire technician, if I spotted splitting and cracking, I personally would have rendered the tire NR and suggested the tire be replaced
@fleminj2pa
@fleminj2pa 2 жыл бұрын
@@cleansedbyfire9223 having grown up in the tire business and after 67 years still a shop owner, I agree that replacement would be ideal. In the real world, most family farmers are not spendthrifts. If they can get another 100 hours out of a patch, that’s what they’re going to do.

@@fleminj2pa that’s a very fair statement. Even I myself am not always willing to just replace something while it still might have even a tiny bit of life left in it.

Nice meaty tires. Good job on the bending bead didn’t look satisfied though. Probably need to bend further than you need so when it is released from the form it’s at the right bend.

The differential is what is letting you turn the back wheels. The wheels are turning a different direction on each side so the transmission isn't turning!

IMO that was pretty good first try on the steam bending. To get a tighter bend, what do think about steaming two half thickness boards and laminating them together when you put them on the form.

So what is your Opinion on the Michelin Tires that you have Nathan? I imagine You can’t get a Warranty Claim on the Tire (Good Years) where the Lines didn’t match up at, I imagine it is Past The Warranty Period on those. I’m not sure how old they are but I assume it is Past the Pro-Rated Age & Wear on them.
@BorderViewFarms

Only Michelin tires we have are on the 9R and I think they are great especially in the bigger sizes like the 800/70R38's. In a 480/80R50 I'm not sure how much difference there would be.

@@BorderViewFarms I thought the 8335R had Michelin’s on it originally. So did that one Good Years as well? It seems the past couple of years there had been a shift to more Michelin Tires on the Larger Tractors 480, 520, 620, 650, 710, 800R Tires. Big Shout Out to your Father In-Law for doing that job for a Living! He gets my Respect that’s for Damn Sure!
