In my apartment's layout, I found that using a directional antenna (Alfa APA-M25), increases the range of both transmitting and receiving, and reduced the background noise

Working in the Telecom Industry for several years, I've experienced this on many fronts. With a single point of transmission & reception (outside of closed system), distance issues can be problematic. Enter in a more distributed system of Tx & Rx, where there are multiple Tx/Rx Access Points, over a given area...... prelude to a mess network. :)

I used the Asus mesh setup ( 500 Mbps ) with two extra nodes all connected by LAN cable. My garage is detached from my house and wifi alone just couldn't keep my security cameras running optimally, so running a LAN cable between nodes was my best option.

I charge the beacon interval and rts to the same... 100 beacon interval and 100 rts threshold or 50 beacon interval and 50 RTS threshold It depends how many people they are in the house

I think we'll find wired access points operating on different channels will be the best solution. Even mesh which everyone and their dog spruke, robs Peter to pay Paul. Yes you'll improve speeds in the weak and dead zone, but your good zone would suffer. My living room went from 929mbps to 478mbps just by activating an ai mesh node on the opposite side of the house. Data packets make extra hops on mesh so it's a compromise I did not want.
