Saw another vid where a researcher said these fish are such gluttons that they get fatty liver disease. Contrast that to the major inshore predator on the Northeast Atlantic coast, the striped bass. These fish will forage and when they have a full stomach they'll be dormant for several days. That's for the larger ones; the small ones school and feed regularly. Bigger ones become territorial and only move with the tide and when forage becomes scarce. But, they grow slowly and they don't overeat. They only put on weight when it's time to migrate south. That's why fall fishing generally picks up; colder water stimulates the feeding activity.

Oi! One of the best documentaries I have seen in a long time! NO 'bugs' (so-called copyguards), and using BOTH the Imperial measurement system AND THE METRIC! I am from Europe where the Metric system is used as indeed about 98% of the planet. As a surfer, I have a concern especially the eastern part of the Atlantic as Portugal has a vast majority of access to the sea (surfing here is first class!, the world record wave was over EIGHT metres at Nazaré!) I am a bit cincerned about Peixe-Leão (Por. Lionfish) invading the west coast of Portugal and Galego to the north on the Iberian Pennsula. Is it still safe to be in the water surfing ,or even just plain swimming? if this Lionfish problem reaches the west coast of Europe as well. I am deeply concerned. I don't want my surfing days to laps into history! This should be addressed and monitored as well. Obligado!

This report is 'ancient' . Lionfish fillets are USD 20 per pound in Whole Foods here in Boca Raton (3 15 18). Next they will be growing them out to fatten them up, There are few species that are successful without a huge investment. Snapper, pompano, etc. These lion fish breed like minks and would probably eat some readily available "feed" like the mullet that migrate through the Keys, that have little value once the roe is removed. The 'sky is NOT falling'. There is a demand...
