that's all I needed to know for taking my first step towards keeping channa andrao...Looks like i need to get an andrao for myself now...that means another tank.. driftwood.. substrate and river stones...filter and almond leaves... More space...and a lot of convincing my wife for another tank😂😂.. but seriously,thanks a lot man...not many people are sharing this kind of content... I'm really lucky to find your channel on KZbin....
@ChannaScaping2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the joke is that when we keep fish, its not the fish that breed, but its the tanks... one tank spawns another which spawns another😂😂, one single andrao really only needs a small tank though, so is an easy job of convincing the spouse😅

Great video, but could you please discuss how they are a temperature species and not tropical fish? Also how they really need winter cooling?
@ChannaScaping4 жыл бұрын
Ran out of time in the video, but yes they are temperate not tropical and need to drop temperature in the winter months. Im in the tropics, so I stick them in a small room with the AC on all day. Temperate drops down to 16c at its coolest and will keep them at that temp until maybe feb or march. If they dont get the winter temperature drop, they develop problems which are irreversible, usually fungal infections which kill them.

I would be inclined to suggest the fungal problem is EUS. Quite commonly seen with aurantimaculata, and now seeing more and more with other species. EUS to my knowledge is untreatable, and despite my best efforts I lost 6 pyrocephalus to this dreaded disease.
@ChannaScaping10 ай бұрын
From earlier conversations with you, yes I think it is EUS as well now. Had whole batches of Channa lost very swiftly to something which did not respond to any amount of treatment. Rule is definitely quarantine all new fish and be careful with biosecurity.

Hello. How did you introduce your channa to pellets, my fish isn’t having anything.
@ChannaScaping2 жыл бұрын
Dont feed anything apart from pellets, if they dont eat them within 5 minutes, take them out, then try again in two days. Eventually most will take to them due to hunger. Other tricks include mixing the pellets in with bloodworms in order to get them used to the shape and texture. Just keep trying, 98% will always take them eventually. All my Channa are pellet trained.

Hello. Thanks a lot for your guidance. My channa has recently started changing colours. Meaning it grows lighter with bolder dark pigments then returns back to its normal colour. What is this behaviour, any thing of concern?
@ChannaScaping Жыл бұрын
All Channa can change color to some extent. If its stress color they go all brown and black. If its close to breeding season their colors come out stronger. Even on a daily basis I see my Channa go through different color shades, and nothing to worry about I think
