Technically the early hours of Sunday 19th October (dates courtesy of Google News having copies of the Glasgow Herald to hand), we have the two ad breaks shown during "Madonna: In Concert", the official title of the film was "Madonna Live: The Virgin Tour", Madge's first concert film from the Cobo Arena in Detroit, Michigan on 23rd May 1985. This video was recorded in the Granada region.
Ad Break 1:
"The Power of Love" compilation, available at Vibes music stores. (Discogs: www.discogs.com/Various-The-P... )
No. 7 Cosmetics
Swinton Insurance
C&A
The Mail on Sunday ("a newspaper, not a snoozepaper")
Ad Break 2:
Walkers French Fries (from the days before the jug-eared goalhanger from "They Think It's All Over advertised them)
Simplicity feminine hygiene products
Hitachi
Horlicks
Furs Direct (fur & leather trade warehouse based in Manchester)
Sanatogen vitamins
Then following Madge is a trailer for "Queen: Real Magic", a live concert video featuring Freddie and the boys at Wembley Stadium filmed by "The Tube" team, to be simulcast on Independent Local Radio stations in FM stereo sound.
Then announcer John Livesey announces the last programme after the break will be the short film "Porklips Now", a parody of the war film "Apocalypse Now".
Ad Break 3:
Granadacover from Granada TV rental stores
Holsten Pils (with Griff Rhys Jones sending up a Gary Cooper western)
Nestlé Dairy Crunch
Toshiba Hi-Fi with that new fangled compact disc player
PIF: Put The Chain On
And then John takes us into "Porklips Now". Following that, there's a menu of the following day's programming and the clock before John wishes us a good night, and that familiar sight at closedown, the "Explosion" ident. I've then fast-forwarded the tape to include a few seconds of the IBA:CH4 electronic test pattern.
Thanks to @GinolasSon for the use of his VCR.
