I've been waiting a long time for this story breaking. In 2008 I worked next door to a couple of guys who repaired taxis, one of them arrived "in a potato sack" and was given leave to remain because he told the authorities he was 15 years old. He told me that new guns were on sale in Calais and that a phone number was available to sell them again for a profit when they reached UK shores. He didn't bring any in because he had no money, but he said that some people in the camps had lots of money. I believe the guns were Makarov pistols.

The failure is the disgraceful Brexit “deal” cobbled together that failed to maintain our right to return illegal immigrants to the previous “safe” county ie France. Had that been maintained as it should I suggest France would have seen far less congregating on the Chanel coast. We have the additional issue of the destruction of ID allowing often outlandish age claims by what are clearly adults. I have generally been against ID and DNA data but without it the trade in illegal immigration will continue.
