Hello Jerome. That Godzilla quilt is great. How about use it as a blanket for a couple weeks. Then, hang it up on some blank wall space so You can keep it as a collectible item. It would make a great tapestry, especially in a room with a stereo for the soundtracks. Best of both worlds.

Short answer is you do whatever you want. I will watch you regardless...not going anywhere. I'd much rather support small creators with a niche set of interests, who are passionate about those interests (whatever they happen to be) than big creators with pro equipment and editors and create for clicks. I just really enjoy watching your stuff, and I nearly always learn about things I didn't know, or movies I probably should watch, or I get reminded that I need to start reading again. Case-in-point -- the Godzilla quilt is one of the nerdiest things I've ever seen.....and I love it. So you do you. :) (And this will probably be another comment that I continually edit again as I go through the video) Edit (because I knew I would): I love the owl mug and the bracelets are adorable! Even if you don't drink coffee or tea I don't blame you for getting it. It's pretty!

Hi Jerome... Love all you review.. You are quite a treasure to have discovered on KZbin... :) Two films I thoroughly recommend watching are, 'The Interrupted Journey', and 'Strangers When We Meet'. The former, starring Valerie Hobson and Richard Todd, is a beautiful typically English piece, featuring a splendid twist- just the ticket for watching one evening, as the sun begins its graceful descent for the night, but I shall say no more to avoid giving the plot away. The latter, 'Strangers When We Meet, stars the delightfully talented Kim Novak and late Kirk Douglas. This is a beautiful film with a plot as relavant to everyday life now; despite the passage of time, as it was in the story one is lucky enough to see being conveyed back then... As a film set against the colourful backdrop that comes from the best of mid-Century Americana, it reaches out on a wholesome level so much, and makes for a fabulous watch. :) I have taken the bold step of including the links for both films... Do enjoy! kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4SYdYyBi5Wbj9k kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3TSZYxtZ5Z8j8k

@@Weiselberry I am assuming the cd was scratched up badly? Outside of obvious physical damage (or rare disc rot), a cd should last longer than the owner. If you still have the disc, I would try ripping it to your computer. Sometimes, even when a scratched cd can't be directly played, its data can still be pulled from the disc into playable files on your computer. Soft-cloth wash the disc with dish soap and warm water, gently (and completely) dry it with another soft cloth, and try ripping it. It's worth a try.

Dang it, I'm supposed to be going to bed, why'd you make me stay up another 20 minutes? Anyway, cool Godzilla stuff. A lot of those images on the Godzilla blanket are from some of the earlier DVD releases. I only have vol 1 of those Godzilla CDs. I really gotta get that vol 2. I also never really paid attention to the Biollante music until I listened to it on its own. I still feel that it doesn't fit the movie, but on its own, it's some of my favorite music in the series. Sugiyama also scored the Dragon Quest games, and whenever I hear the music from those games I just get frustrated because I can hear snatches that sound almost the same, and I just want it to be the Biollante music. Also, I will definitely use the word 'botheration' at work now.

Because The Creature and The Third Man are among your favorites (mine as well) and you so enjoyed making those videos, you unconsciously really put yourself into those, and it came through in the video. That's a theory, and may be partly correct. Another is that both of those movies are widely loved. Anyways, they are definitely among my faves and I thought you did an outstanding job in both. Wow, good for you about your youtube news. I don't think you have to worry about your channel at all. You said yesterday in your news section about your watch on Sergio Leon's western, and again, love to hear your take on the Dollars trilogy and The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly but again I SO HOPE you watch and review Once Upon A Time In The West, you won't believe Henry Fonda playing one of the most villianince characters in history and it's his only time he's ever played the bad guy. The movie is a MASTERPIECE I say again. Heck the beginning is done so masterly, it starts out with 3 characters arriving at a train station, one of them being Jack Elam with no music but the sound design and what the characters do to wait on something or someone is classic. Don't worry, there's music also and I would bet you would get another CD after the movie. Well, I have my Shin Godzilla dvd ordered from the library thanks to your review. Love your Godzilla cover, you should get 2, one to save and one to stay warm on cold nights. And your video here is not uneven at all, the more u put any videos out, the more I'll watch. Also stick to your book reviews, I enjoy them too. Oh and please more bloopers as I think I've rewatch them the most. Authors are paid by the page view on kindle unlimited so it’s a pretty good self publishing route- that’s why there is so so much romance (and really weird ‘paranormal romance’) on there as well as not so good action thrillers and mysteries. Target market is people who read voraciously in a single genre so quality is often secondary to quantity.

You lit a fire in me that I didn't want lit. I want that blanket! I felt like you were talking directly to me when you were talking about it. I've searched the interwebs some and have not found it. I found a 65th anniversary blanket which is similar, but it has a border around it that I don't like that much. I prefer yours. Since you don't have any other clues than an Etsy search; how about a manufacturers/brand name somewhere on the quilt or tag? I am not that much into movie music although it's great that you love those CD's - the more G the better. I have some other G-related books. John LeMay has written a few books on Japanese sci-fi movies and I recommend the four found on Amazon (except the Kong one - don't care enough about him to get that book). Peter Brothers has two books on Ishiro Honda and his sci-fi films and the other G movies through Destroyah. Those books can all be bought for reasonable prices in case anybody's interested. No, don't do anymore book reviews. Godzilla! Gamera! More Godzilla! Japanese sci-fi movies should be all. Ha, just kidding. As a couple others have said, what makes your channel your own is that you are honest and enthusiastic about your reviews. You don't need to listen to anyone. Of course, I've been trying to get you to listen to me and see some other cool Japanese sci-fi movies that I've come across recently. Unfortunately, you would have to buy many of these movies as the local library ain't gonna have these. You could just stick with Ishiro Hondo. Matango is awesome morality tale "on mushrooms". The Human Vapor is a fascinating and tragic love story hidden in science fiction. Oh, well, I could easily go on for pages and I'm already being hypocritical enough. Oh, by the way, as other people have said, the blanket/quilt should be savored and enjoyed. Hanging it up would be good, although I think it would be great on the bed as you showed it off. Don't hide it away where you'll forget about it. Who cares if it gets dirty. Life is dirty. Some people say that you should keep collectables in boxes so that they are worth more when you sell them. I don't care about that, I'm dying with all my awesome crap!

Also, what a cool blanket! I am so happy you got that! I don't think it was clear in the video but was that also a Christmas gift? I wonder where it came from? Also, I too love film music (that actually used to be a dream job of mine as I used to compose music. I do once in a while but not as much anymore. ) Speaking of film music, back in October, I found a little treasure at a thrift shop. It is The Monster Music Of Hans J. Salter & Frank Skinner. The Godzilla quilt is simply amazing. Where do you find such fun stuff ? If it were me I would use and display it on your bed, unless you have a cat. Sometimes my cat would "gerf up" a hairball onto part of the bed and then just move over to another part of the bed to fall back asleep. Kind of nasty to witness all of that. How you managed to display the quilt level to the camera being on the side where you could not see the camera was quite a feat too !

I don't know, I think my brother just searched for "Godzilla blanket" on Etsy and found it that way. Ha, yikes! No cats here, so the only hairballs to worry about would be my own. Er... Great video as always! Your content is always a joy to watch. I somewhat shamefully admit to not being a big Godzilla fan but that quilt is very cool! Some people take things like that and hang them on the wall like tapestries so there is my suggestion. I completely understand about Kindle Unlimited. I have a current subscription that I got cheap and I tread lightly when using it for the poor writing reason. I have been using it for romance novels and the writing isn't stellar but most of the stories have been enjoyable and there are a few historical romance mysteries on Unlimited that I have wanted to try (though for me, it is so hard for me to remind myself to read Kindle things even though I finally have a Kindle lol). Great book haul! My friend Katie said she really liked Unequal Affections so that is pretty much the only Austen retelling on my eventual TBR right now. I look forward to your thoughts on it and the videos to come in 2020😀❤️🎉

Thanks! I'm considering the tapestry idea; I just have to find the right spot for it! (And cross my fingers that it won't fall down while I'm sleeping and give me a heart attack, haha.) Oh good, another endorsement of Unequal Affections! That's a good sign. One of the last books I read on Kindle Unlimited was a Beauty and the Beast retelling by K.M. Shea. I really liked it and actually wondered if you had read it. She has a whole series of interconnected fairy tale retellings that sounds really interesting (called Timeless Fairy Tales), so I'm going to try to squeeze them all in before my time is up. :)

LOL, oh dear! :D Yeah, I wouldn't say it's the best writing I've ever read, but compared to some of the other stuff I've found on there, it's pretty good. I'm not familiar with it, but that's not deterring my enjoyment of the book, and I'm tickled by the references to the events in the first book. And book 3 is a Cinderella retelling which sounds very interesting. So, yeah, you might want to check out the series if you get a chance. :)

*1* . I love the Godzilla blanket! As someone mentioned elsewhere, it would make an awesome kimono, but where could you really wear it like that for long stretches, save for a convention? If it was me, I would probably hang it...but, hmmm, if it's cozy enough, why not just use it as a blanket, especially for watching movies? Enjoy your stuff, and get use out of them, especially if they were given as a gift. Don't be like some of us where we do put our collectibles in storage and are only reminded of them every few years when we do a deep clean and see them again....and then put them right back in their boxes for another few years. That's madness! Aside from books and movies, the only Godzilla merch. that I have, and have had for over ten years now, are these Godzilla slippers: www.amazon.com/Toy-Vault-Godzilla-Plush-Slippers/dp/B000M52W2W/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=godzilla+slippers&qid=1581046356&sr=8-1 They are really cozy and I wear them on the coldest of winter nights while watching movies. *2* . I LOVE the book reviews. I have found so many books from your videos which I probably would have never heard of otherwise. *3* . Your videos are so informative and well thought-out. Having said that, there are probably around 40% of them which I have stayed away from for the time being, _only because_ I want to get to the works in question before I hear your take on them. This is actually a good thing, as it has made me get to those classics which I've been putting off for so long. For example, I finally caved in and did my first *Phantom of the Opera* - _anything_ this past year by reading the Gaston Leroux novel (SPOILERS: It was AWESOME!). *4* . Everyone knows about the resurgence of vinyl. I just came from Walmart earlier and even they have their own little (terribly-overpriced) vinyl record section now. However, it seems like people are going back to cds a bit, as well...mainly for collectors to get the best-mastered versions over the lesser-quality mp3 counterparts. So, you are not alone in spinning that plastic. If you really want to do music reviews, I'm thinking you should probably explore other free video hosting services, where they wouldn't be as quick to ding you for copyright strikes. The problem with KZbin is that fair use doesn't seem to be factored in before a video gets flagged. I have no doubt that you would do the review by only playing enough of each track to get a taste, in line with proper fair use. However, I fear that your video would also probably get flagged anyway and, even if you could get the hit rescinded, it would be a huge pain and stressor you don't need. By using another platform, you can post those music reviews there with less worry. If they get flagged there, you could still get them cleared and move on with things. Worst-case scenario, the video gets taken down, the channel even gets taken down.....but your KZbin channel is free from that mess altogether. You could post a video here promoting the music review video on the other site, providing a link, and (hopefully) you can build up more of an audience by working between multiple sites. Naturally, this leads to the Patreon side of things as an option down the road, too. That's another discussion entirely, and one I'm sure you have already had with yourself as you keep growing the channel.
@Weiselberry4 жыл бұрын
"Don't be like some of us..." Hm, too late. :) Those are hilarious slippers! Are they tough to walk in? They look like you might have a little trouble tripping over the toes/claws. Aw, thanks! I'm thrilled that you loved The Phantom of the Opera. I haven't actually read it in an appallingly long time, but I did read it cover to cover multiple times back in the day, so I guess it balances out for me? I feel like I'm overdue for a revisit though. Yeah, I'm pretty sure in most cases fair use is not factored in to a copyright strike (or just a flag, where you're not technically in trouble but whoever claims the copyrighted material gets to stick an ad on the video). And if you make a counterargument that your video (which you worked very hard on) does fall under fair use, they turn down your appeal within minutes. I question their insistence that they go back and review the video to see if you're telling the truth or not. But this is all just an enormous KZbinr pet peeve. :) I do want to talk about those cds sooner than later and I'm kind of clueless when it comes to "expanding my brand" and using other forms of social media. I still haven't decided what to do, but my strongest inclination is to just keep it as simple as possible while not making any waves. Ah yes, there is also the Patreon thing. You're absolutely right, I have had many a discussion about it, and I'm slowly inching my way in that direction...

@@Weiselberry The slippers are more for lounging and keeping your feet toasty. Trying to walk in them, with the inevitably deliberate, lumbering steps, is basically walking like Godzilla himself. If the Big G can make it around like that 24/7, while saving the planet from all sorts of kaiju, then I can surely complete a handful of trips in the slippers, from the living room papasan to the kitchen counter, every winter without complaint. You are such an obvious Phan, you have no reason to second-guess your level of devotion to the original source material. I _was_ struck at how the Leroux telling was not _as_ romantic as some of the later adaptations seem to be. On that note, my next time at the *Opera* will be with the 2004 film. So, KZbin is just so big right now that I don't even think they can keep it a fair, level playing field. I'm sure you've seen these numbers, but they demand repeating: _"300 hours of video are uploaded to KZbin every minute! Almost 5 billion videos are watched on KZbin every single day. KZbin gets over 30 million visitors per day. In an average month, 8 out of 10 18-49 year-olds watch KZbin."_ You couple that with aggressive predatory rights holders, who flag literally _a second_ of copyrighted-material on someone's video, and then try to extort them with rights fees (often in excess of $100 per instance) to keep their video (and essentially their channel) from getting struck down....and it's just a mess all-around. I also think it's just good sense not to rely on KZbin for the end-all be-all. Don't put all of your hard work and creative eggs in that one basket, you know? Definitely ride the KZbin wave for as long as you can, but have that exit strategy already in place, all the same. On that note, I do hope that you have at least two back-ups of all your videos. Just to be safe. As for alternatives to KZbin, there's LBRY, Vimeo, Dailymotion, Facebook, among others. breadnbeyond.com/youtube-marketing/5-best-youtube-alternatives/ Facebook might be an option, in that you could create a dedicated Jerome Weiselberry account (to keep your privacy intact), and post channel updates, random musings, polls, etc. etc. there, along with those videos which be too risky to post at KZbin. It's also a great way to build awareness for your channel. Outside the box, since you will be dealing with soundtrack discussion, you may also consider doing your music review in the form of a podcast, which can be shared from just about any hosting service, without any serious risk of being flagged. These are all just suggestions off the top of my head. I only know just enough to be dangerous, as they say. In the meantime, study that KZbin Creator Playbook, explore your alternatives, and keep on keeping on cause your content is already proven, even if the system of delivering it seems more and more tenuous with each passing day. Good luck, Jerome. : ) *ETA:* As a sidenote, your 2019 stats breakdown of books by genre, movies, etc. etc. made me proud. That's the Spreadsheet Girl, we all know and love! Hopefully, your viewers will follow suit and we can all compare our respective 2020 tallies next January.

I mostly come here looking for Jane Eyre reviews, but I watch all your reviews. You make Godzilla sound interesting and I'm not even into Godzilla. Having said that, I do think your Godzilla blanket is pretty neat. I wish there was such a thing as a Jane Eyre blanket though. Have you seen any more of The King's Academy musicals? They are just now uploading the Hunchback of Notre Dam and they are in the mist of performing Jeckell and Hyde the Musical.
@Weiselberry4 жыл бұрын
Well, I wasn't really into Godzilla when I started the series either. I've come a long way. :) Oh, can you imagine? You could have pictures of the best scenes from all the different versions or something! I haven't yet gotten to watch more of their musicals, but THANK YOU for reminding me (again!). :)

Jerome, you should have more subs and fans, is there a place where we can support you? :) and merry new year!! (says it in Eddie Murphy voice, ala Trading Places)....er happy new year! Thank you so much for making me wanna go back to rewatching all the Godzilla films. I read...haha, knee jerk, watched your book reviews. Thing is, it's not the reviews, it's the books. I've actually never read Jane Eyre, but it's not my type of books. Books are varied for all viewers :). VERY cool Gojira blanket!! I like the idea of Kindle, but I never read enough to justify it these days.

Aw, thank you! As of this moment, no, but I am working on it. :)

@@Weiselberry As for Kindle, you're partially right about the self-publishers. I didn't go that route as a former budding author, since I couldn't afford editors/proofers :).

Could you maybe do some fun things with your owls stuff? They could do a play about wisdom or something.Enjoyed the video,and I won't be offended if none of my suggestions inspire you.It's like offering people chocolate or buscuits,I'm content if they refuse!

New subscriber! I really love your videos and gotta say that you really have big passion about Godzilla (Me being Godzilla fan as well!) And wanted to ask you..How do you feel about the upcoming Godzilla vs Kong this November?
@Weiselberry4 жыл бұрын
Aw, thanks for subscribing! I appreciate that. :) Oh, has the release date been moved to November? I hadn't heard that. I'm excited for it. My sensible side tells me to chill and keep my expectations low (so if it's bad I won't be as disappointed), but I can't help it. I think it's going to be wild and crazy and I'm looking forward to it. :)

Can you make some reviews of artists' biopics ? There are some movies about Chopin, Beethoven, el Greco, Tchaikovsky and Van Gogh. And also there are some biopics about cinema stars : Momie Dearest, Stan and Ollie, Bud and Lou and W.C.Fields and me. Some of these are hard to find.

Awesome blanket, maybe you should hang it on a wall (out of the sunlight). As for still buying CDs there's nothing wrong with having physical media. I bought Godzilla king of the monsters soundtrack on vinyl (I see your "outdated" digital media and raise you with archaic analog format muhaha!) Perhaps you can spruce up your book reviews videos, maybe dress like you did back in your older videos or add pictures or photos give the audience something visual to work with, ie be creative and attack the problem from different angles.

Just hang the blanket on the wall

Hi. I didn't notice the hives until I read your intro and even then it wasn't very noticeable, although I usually watch your uploads on low definition as hearing you is the priority and it saves on data... 🙂 Anyway, get well soon 😷🤒🤧 I'm definitely here for the movie reviews, not being anywhere near as voracious a reader like yourself. I have read all Jane Austen's novels though, if that redeems me at all 😁 It's probably tantamount to heresy to say this in your comments section but I'm afraid I don't get the Godzilla thing - *SORRY* 😕 The blanket *is* very colourful, though. The way you were modelling it suggests that conversion to a robe, or - maintaining the Japanese theme - a kimono would be a good use for it...? It *would* be nice to see more Hitchcock reviews this year. I don't think you've done *Saboteur* yet - so how's about it? One of my favourites 🙂 Best wishes for 2020 🙏
@Weiselberry4 жыл бұрын
The hives cleared up within a couple hours (they're probably not even noticeable in the latter half of the video, which was filmed a couple hours after the first half), but thanks for the well wishes anyway. :) I actually have already done a review of Saboteur, so you're in luck!
