When the channels are spawning they get real dark and sometimes even blue. They look a lot like blue catfish then

Personally man, I know a lot of people that "settled" for cheaper options then after a short time still wished to get a Hobie. I always tell people if you really want to go the kayak route, save your money and get a nicer one like a Hobie. Just my opinion!

I don’t fish a lot like you do but I do sometimes . I work with a lot of catfish since I am a chef at a country club. You should try beer battered blue catfish fry on a catch and cook video. 2 tips to make catfish a lot less fishy tasting. Cut the lateral bloodline from middle of the fillets. I also started bleeding them out like I have for saltwater fish... you can definitely taste a difference doing either or both.

I have a pond that has freshwater eels and yes its kinda difficult to catch them on rod and reel, but you can catch them in crawfish traps that are rectangle and I catch a lot on pool noodles like a jug line, pool noodle, line, hook, weight but use a bait holder hook and kinda small because they do have small mouths. Aslo bait is simple, little pices if chicken or pork work good for me. So if you ever want to try and catch some theres some ways that work for me and might work for you

Micah in Elgin not far Columbia they used to have a yearly catfish stomp celebration which lots of different folks cooked n made catfish stew. I think the last we saw was 2022 n usually happens first of December each year. So check it out my friend!

You can make yellow jacket traps out of a water bottle and pour pop in the bottom fill half way and cut the water bottle in half then tuck the lid part down like a funnel and fit it down into the bottle

Those clams are invasive Asian clams. They make good bream bait and good catfish bait, and they taste great. We have several quart bags of Asian clams in the freezer to eat
