I have a Toronto Prince story, he would go to a club called This is London and a friend of mine was a server there in the bottle service area and she had Prince a few times and he would order bottles for his entourage but for himself he wanted his own drinks brought. He told her he didn’t want his individual drinks on the tab and each time she brought him a drink he paid with a $100 bill and tell her to keep the change.

As far as Target here in the states, their records are over priced so I tend to wait a couple months and they inevitably go on clearance. I picked up a copy of Pearl James new 40 plus dollar record for $12 a week ago
@dannyb.39245 ай бұрын
There is a Target near me that places the clearance LPs in a wooden crate. I recently picked up Tina Turner's Simply The Best which is a hits collection for $11.49 and Kacey Musgraves's Deeper Well for $10.37. Have found some other excellent deals there as well.
@analoguecity34545 ай бұрын
$30 is not overpriced for something that was 9 10 dollars in the early 80s! It's unreasonable to expect it not to increase in especially in this recession! On the inflation calculator it comes out almost exactly $30!

Such a well put together adventure, Frank! The Barnes & Noble store managers have been given a lot of independence by the mothership, which has worked well for the chain. My closest B & Ns (San Gabriel Valley & Long Beach, Calif.) both still have pretty good music sections, although the CD section is smaller due to competition with LPs.

Hello Frank & Sheri. I noticed Sheri always mentions Texas. I saw them on their first tour for Southside in Philadelphia at a small club, the Chestnut Cabaret, for only $8 US. Included was also a cassette copy of Southside. Cassettes at that time were around $8 so essentially, I got the show for free. Loved them ever since. Cool video! Minneapolis/St.Paul is my hometown (St.Paul specificially), so this video naturally appealed to me. I actually met Prince at Cheapo in Minneapolis in 2009. I filmed a video a few years ago telling about it on my channel, and wrote in my blog about it in 2009. So, while The Electric Fetus may have been his favorite record store, he shopped for music at many places. He even owned a clothing store down the street from Cheapo on Lake Street at 1 point (Cheapo was located in a few spots, but the previous address was on Lake Street). It was called "New Power Generation" which of course was the band and Fanclub he formed (after The Revolution broke up). So if/when you make another trip down to the Twin Cities, you probably should plan to spend some more time at Cheapo. Even besides the Minneapolis location, the St.Paul one is worth checking out as well, which is 1 of my wife and I'd regular RSD spots; we kind of stopped going to the Fetus for RSD (chronicled in our Record Store Day Videos on my channel going back 10 years), due to how mobbed it became. Having to take a number and wait hours to finally go try and pickup the special RSD items. But yeah, the Twin Cities do have a lot to go see and do, beyond even the Mall of America. And music stores included. My favorites in recent years beyond Cheapo are Agharta Records and Barely Brothers in St.Paul. I guess it depends on how much time you have and what you are looking to do. Restaurants, Sports, Theater or Museums even? etc.

I live in a northwest suburb of Minneapolis. I shop at the Blaine Cheapo and sometimes the Maple Grove Down in the Valley. Cheapo stores definitely have a large selection of new and used. My only complaint with their used is they put a price on the vinyl center’s track listing. Those are hard to remove. What gets me with Best Buy is they dropped physical movie discs in store and online but now they are carrying 1000s of records online. No reason they couldn’t have kept movie discs online too. There’s probably a huge profit margin on these older records that keep getting reissued. My price cap for a record is $40. Hope you enjoyed Minneapolis.

Hello Frank ! Excellent roadtrip for you and your nice family. You have some huge sized record stores on that side of the puddle. The average here in Sweden are about half of the Roadrunner records store featured in your video. Hence ; a much larger selection available for you guys. I’m a little surprised about the rising prices though. Yours doesn’t seem to stop. Here they’ve gone up a little for new releases and reissues on two separate occations. Once in 2019 and the other 2023. We pay about $22-$26 usd for an Lp and $33-$47 usd for a double album. (approximately calculated from Swedish crowns) Used records have stayed about the same since 2015-16. Normally $3-$8 usd. Rare used records goes for what supply and demand dictates of course. Starting around $25/$30 usd and upwards to $350/$450 usd for boxsets and audiophile pressings. They all know if they push too hard , we push back by NOT buying anything , because we’re stubborn sums-a-beechez. Keep rocking. /R

Hey Frank I too was just in Minneapolis, got back yesterday saw GREENDAY and Metallica there over the weekend 🤘 I too went to the Fetus and agree with your comments, it was crazy busy in there when we were there, I think due to many in town for the shows. Sheri destined the other part of EF aptly, as my lovely wife said almost the exact same thing. I also went to Roadrunner and again agree with your sentiments, great store, I needed some more time though, again more new then I expected. Lastly I also went to a Target, selection was meh and prices nothing special, the only thing it had going for it were target exclusives. Urban outfitters had some albums again price was not great and selection was standard fair. Great video and glad your trip went well. For the record Metallica was good GREENDAY was awesome!! It should be "1000s more vinyl records..."; what's tripping you up is the word "vinyl" alone. I too find it strange when my daughter asked me "how many vinyls do you have?". But I guess there are many words for the same thing: album, LP, record, vinyl, 12" (which is particularly jarring since it means a 12" single to me, but not to the younger generation.)

MCA never did “recall” SS Flame cvr they just ceased making the cover and took the photo from the back and repositioned the titles and pressed a new version of the cover . Everyone gets it wrong by claiming they airbrushed the flames out . That is incorrect. The back photo is a different picture but was from the same photo shoot. The og cvr was shipped in large quantities thus not a difficult record to find . Still it is one of Skynyrd’s best . Interesting Ed King and two members of Blackfoot Greg T Walker (bass) and Rickey Medlicke (drums )is playing on that album .”One More Time “is a earlier take on a song unreleased and did some overdubs creating a releasable version . It is rumored that Pyle and Gaines were given the task of going through Skynyrd’s vault and selecting songs for a album to be released shorty after SS. Of course at the time no title was chosen but due to plane crash it was titled Skynyrd’s First and Last .
