Ok, the records on the river story. It was 1969. I was 9 and I was walking home with my 3 younger sisters from the fair in downtown Guelph. Ontario, Canada. On the way we crossed the mighty Speed River and I looked over and what did I see but a pile of 45s in the river. I couldn't believe it. Our house was only 5 minutes away, so I sent my sisters home and went down for some free records. Unfortunately I don't have them anymore. I think there were 5 or 6, 45s. The only one I remember is The Moody Blues, "Ride My See Saw". This has since been one of my favorite songs. And I have a confession...my 1st album was K-Tels 22 Fantastic Hits. I stole it from Woolworths in 1973. The next year I met an older kid that said he had 22 albums! I thought that if I had 22 records, I would never get tired of music. A year or so later, I hit 100. I was so proud. It's a very bad habit and I love it.

Hi Frank, Great video as per usual. Grundig were a german audio manufacturer, now owned by a Turkish white goods company. In the 1980./90;s they developed the best active (amplified) speakers ever made but dropped them when Philips took control of the company and trned it into a Philips clone. take care.

I vote for the Pipco room! He's a Zappa fan, like me! "Pipco" was a logo on a t-shirt that Zappa wore on the cover of his "Lumpy Gravy" album. Zappa rules! Also love that wall of cassettes. I have a friend who has collected home-taper tapes (original music, not mixtapes) for decades and he has literally thousands of them. But they are all in storage now while he galavants around eastern Europe. Great music rooms, Frank! I'd show you my room but it's not really that attractive, kind of a crammed heap of CD's and equipment and what-not. Not visually appealing but when I have the music going it SOUNDS great.

Hey there Frank, thanks for featuring my room and giving the show another plug! I have just returned from Bali so I am in home quarantine for a two weeks (not complaining, it’s like an extension to the trip overseas) although I have been kicked off Facebook for a bit, I guess they think my account has been compromised but this just adds to the feeling of isolation and as a result I can’t return the favour and share this video with my viewers...yet. Shawn 's collection has some serious aesthetic value that I doubt I will ever be able to approach. Kudos! I completely agree with your assessment of the Ortofon Blue 2M. That cartridge has brought new life to my LP collection. Pipco & his Pedragon speakers rock. If I'm him, I wouldn't give out my full name, either. That collection would attract too much attention otherwise. Impressive! Oliver & his CD collection! Chris with the De La Soul album. Great call there. I really like his "now playing" or queue box. I would love to be able to find something like that. Sorry: no Michael Myers, no good- lol! Chris's storage solution is ingenious & looks great. Jason SHOULD be a horror fan with that name :). Paul has a serious LP & cassette collection! Nothing finer than the Fisher Price player, though! Keep 'em coming!

Really cool episode! It feels so good not being alone in my addiction collecting VINYL! Been buying LP’s since I was twelve, first record I bought was the US version of MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR with the 12” booklet; next up I( think!) was RAMONES MANIA 2LP of their great and humouros music (labeled PUNK?). In 1991 I was in a punkband called APKOSTYM (Monkey Suit;) We took the name from a song by the PLASMATICS) we choosed that in an even battle of SLAKTARBEBIS (Butcher baby). I I think that year the RAMONES played in Sweden as opening act for IGGY POP and me being a ’baby-punk’ I had to absorb the RAMONES, therefore I got the MANIA 2LP. That was decades ago… My collection of MUSIC on vinyl (not the label!) has grown and still is! I think I have ’round 4.500 albums now. All genres from classic to heavy metal. I also collect labels, CTI, Blue Note, LIMELIGHT a s o… I recently had a whiff of nostalgia and achieved another C-64 ’breadbin’ and beingf a total nerd I got an old keyboard from Italy via fleabay- ;-) I’d like to show some of my stuff in a later VINYL DENS episode! Regards!/ Gustav

Thanks Dominic! That is very nice of you. What album is it? I am asking just to make sure I don't have the CD already. Frank

@@Channel33RPM you don't have this cd. I did it as an independent and it was never properly released. Very non typical and Zappesque. Lots of real voices from family, friends, evangelists, ham radio ops having a verbal war on shortwave. I recorded their voices on a Friday the 13th with a full moon, back in 97. It will be an experience, if you dare. I can send it if I get an address. Cheers and happy spinning, Dom

Great video Frank I would also love to hangout with you and buy you a beer if you are ever in the phx or San Diego area. Did you get a better copy of Ozzy?

I still haven't been able to find a 1200 table - I keep an eye out but they are always sold in pairs and beat up in my area.

I agree.. they are very hard to source locally. I am seriously thinking about getting one from Japan. Frank

I did a vid on the Victrola record player last year, which is similar to the Crosley: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bpzJc5-sj7yNrKs My take is, if a cheap, all-in-one turntable gets people into vinyl, then what is the big deal? Keep on Spinning! Frank

I have a Pro-Ject Carbon Debut with a red Ortofon cartridge. I am thinking of upgrading to a blue cartridge. The problem is, I only find them online. Do some record stores or audio gear shops offer installation services?

yes, they do here.

So you prefer still shots or a video? And can you recommend anyone in the San Francisco area that specializes in cleaning Bachelor audio caves?
