Some people have the right brain wiring to enjoy the love of objects or other inorganic non-humans. In my experience (both as an OS and talking to many OS), it seems to require the right mix of at least some of: a heightened ability to sense agency; an enhanced imagination; increased sensitivity to stimulus; richer and more intense emotionality; increased empathy; a high openness trait; and some small degree of synesthesia. Some of these traits are commonly found with prople with ASD and so there's a correlation between autism and OS; however, these traits can exist in neurotypical people and so not all OS are autistic. I would consider these traits to be superpowers, tbh, and I've yet to meet a single OS, whether neurodivergent or not, who wishes to lose these enhanced senses and their rich inner life. I've never met an OS who wishes they weren't.

I agree the practical interaction is quite different, but the feeling, the love, seems the same. That was also the conclusion that Amy Marsh, sexologist, reached and why she argues that it is every bit as genuine a sexuality as hetero or homosexuality. If you don't have evidence to the contrary, it seems wrong to disregard the existing research and their self-reporting, especially by those who have loved both humans and objects and report the feelings being the same.

So, yes, what happens with OS is that they fall in love with the combination of the attractive physical exterior and the personality they believe inhabits the car (or whatever). This, so far, is the same as any human intimate relationship: attraction + personality. Now, the issue comes with your concerns over the idea that objects lack a personality. Unless you believe in some form of animism or panpsychism this is a given, yes (however, I think you're wrong if you believe this is demonstrable - in the same way that the existence of gods cannot be proven/disproven, or that humans are conscious and not p-zombies, there's no way to disprove that an object doesn't have a soul within it - it's a religious position). But this is no way precludes genuine love. Love is just a particular neuro-chemical state, and theroetically requires no particular external state for it to occur (you could generate the same feeling by medicine, hypothetically). Consider: have you ever experienced an emotion in a dream? Love or sexual desire, perhaps? If so, you have experienced love (or whatever) with a non-human, an illusion, a projection. Assuming OS are doing something similar to dreams, imaginary friends, anthropomorphism of pets or plants, and so on, then you can easily see how justblike you can feel emotion towards a dream character they can feel love towards a projection of their psyche into an object. Or consider that if it was revealed to you now that your wife was actually a simulation or android, your love towards her up to that point wouldn't have been any less real or illusory - it still would have been real love. Does that make sense?

@@Eny963 I've dealt with the consent issue in another comment of yours. Consent is not an issue. As to how can someone love both humans and a non-human, or be attracted to both, its because they can. You cannot, so you find it hard to understand, but that's simply an argument from personal incredulity and can be dismissed. An aromantic asexual cannot understand how you can love or find attractive any human, and yet you can (I presume). Same with polyamory, just because you are incapable of certain feelings doesn't mean others are likewise incapable. You may also struggle to understand synesthesia or other forms of neurodiversity, and they you, but lack of ability to comprehend or empathise isn't evidence of the non-existence of something. Speaking from my own experience, I've not sensed much of a difference between the love of God, love in human relationships, or love with inorganic non-humans. Some of those OS who have had, or have, both human and object relationships report the same lack of distinction to me also. Edit: When, on another thread, I asked you to describe what love was you gave me a description of the sensation of love that you experience. I too experience that, and from my conversations with OS I'd say most of them do too. So in what sense is the OS sensation of love different?

Now if you believe their metaphysical view is correct, then consent isn't a problem because it's being given by the object telepathically to the OS (like how some religious people pray to God and 'sense' a response). But if you believe a car is just an object without a personality, then again consent isn't isn't issue because objects don't require consent (prople don't think machines are slaves). So eitherway, there is no issue with consent here. And whether religious opinions are delusional or require therapy or are self-centred, is a fascinating and complex debate, where I tend to fall on the 'no' side. Additionally, no mental health professional is going to encourage treatment where someone doesn't want it, isn't causing harm, and is functioning well in society. And even if they did, what therapy is available and what result would be sought? Many therapists working with OS encourage and support their object relationships (often as a healthy coping mechanism).
