No benefits ,no help at all from the government. That's the biggest problem. If they had to work to keep a roof over their head and food on the table they would either work or go home.And the ones who turn to crime to make money,first offense,they get shipped back. I believe that no country should get involved in any other country's affairs. Take care of your own first. How many homeless are there in Western countries ? How many old people are unable to make ends meet because of shitty pensions? People who actually contributed and love their countries? @sarahstrong71743 жыл бұрын
Be fair though. It is easy to make mistakes when you are young, especially if you have not had the right education & training from parents & teachers. It is necessary to introduce young people to choice- making gradually starting from when they are very young, starting with small things so that they gradually learn that it is important to go through the process, considering what positive & negative things may happen as a result of their choices. Sometimes let them fail in the small decisions so they learn that choices have consequences. "No, I am not giving you money to buy sweets today. Yesterday I gave you your pocket money & told you it has to last for the week. You spent it all, so now you have to wait till Saturday for more money." (If you want to be kind offer a piece of fruit instead.) Also if you forbid them to do something it is important to sit down calmly with them & explain fully what harm might come from doing that thing. Explain in a kind way why you decided that, so they get to see your decision making process & learn from that. Teach them that it is O.K. to tell friends that you want time to think about whether you want to join in with something before doing so. Maybe offer to do something they will enjoy with them instead sometimes, if the activity in question seems unwise. Tell them about decisions you have made in your own life & encourage them to ask you if they want to understand choices or want help making a decision.

There is a huge problem in Britain with the social structure that allows excessive freedom for youngsters.For kids growing up in Africa, they dare not mess up, their parents will dish out strict punishment. You dare not come back late from the school of go-to club. But in the UK, the freedom to do whatever without consequence is making youngsters lose their senses. Kids who grew up in Africa and later come over to UK for their undergraduates and postgraduates are the ones who are very successful compared to the UK-born African descents.

This has nothing to do with culture it all about upbringing and decision making and rehabilitation in Somalia or Kenya worst idea because if you have cash you will get what you want when you want and how you want it am not talking about a lot money . Am talking with experience cause am youth who grew up in Kenya and a lot of youths 15-19 are brought back by there parents for rehabilitation or kick it back with the wrong crowd the fact is they are the wrong crowd and of course not all of them but few good apples are mix with the had one's and all became rotten and if they have a drug problems they get at a cheaper rate compared to Europe or States and if they didn't have one they start using in fact they became worse and some parents thing they have changed but it all an act they are just waiting for an opportunity to go back and reunite with there friends that's the reality seen a lot of hoyo's crying 😢 everyday just to see their sons and daughters focused with their own lives. i know it's hard dealing with them everyday about the same thing over and over but at least you know what they're doing most of the time rather than sending them somewhere think it's safe and you just a have an idea of what his\she is doing and relying on what your cousin or Aunt is going to tell you. If they prefer and are happier with their traditional Somalian culture, then they should stay in their own country where they would feel more comfortable. If they decide to migrate to other countries, then they must learn to assimilate into their new way of life and learn the new culture and have respect for the host country and its people.
@Archiveofobscurity4 жыл бұрын
Prejudice and racism makes it much harder for people to assimilate. Scroll up this comments section and you will see a wall of racist abuse, just as an example. Its a two way process - show respect and you will receive respect, honour others and you will be honoured. And its not just about 'assimilation' anyway - people can bring their own culture with them and that culture can enrich the whole. A lot of the things you might take for granted today were brought over from other cultures (see the restaurants on any high street for instance). The diversity of a place like London is an example of this diversity in action.
@Archiveofobscurity4 жыл бұрын
@Kazemi Groove basic respect has to be given though. Its the foundation of belonging and acceptance. You ain't going to be earning nothing if you are constantly disrespected for no reason!
@Archiveofobscurity4 жыл бұрын
@Kazemi Groove i do think migrants should learn the culture and language of the place they move to. But not just as a basic respect, for their own empowerment too. This is made difficult by racism, xenophobia, etc. Its a two-way equation always.

So should white Americans assimilate to Native American culture then? Immigrants adapt just fine, they follow the rules of traditions of the new country, but your racist brain can't stand people having their own beliefs and food that isn't yours, it's so simple it doesn't understand that you don't have to completely give up your culture to move to another country.

You have to go back with something, always keep your focus get a university degree or open a successful business, or at the very least cultivate some powerful friends. We don’t need people going back who will just become a burden. I don’t think anyone should go back without having something to show for their time away it is the depths of embarrassment to be gone from your loved ones for so long and have nothing to show for it. Maybe the parents should have migrated to Somaliland instead of going West. That way they could have kept their culture intact and protected their kids from the "horrible" West. Although I will say, I love this young lady's passion to bring hope to the women and children.

Ummm...so just clean your room and do your homework. A small price for access to first world opportunities, don't you think? Stay strong, be smart.

They have invested in education and they speak English very well. It is a good sign that East African is on the road to unity. Now we can understand them and do business together. It has been hard but welcome home.

Umm sorry but you are putting your hopes on these kind of people? The video has made it clear that they were sent there by their parents because they were afraid they might get killed gangbanging in UK. There are lots of smart, disciplined Somali youngsters in London that you need to try and attract. Not these people.

It’s good that they have found a better life in Somalia and I think it’s good to find their roots. The only problem is that they need to get into training and jobs because they can’t rely on their parents for remittances forever. What the girl is doing, teaching youngsters, and counselling women is a positive contribution, you can tell by the thoughts that she is having a new direction in life.

The East is a lot harder working then the West. The West just developed earlier and they are richer now

The West isn't exactly known for being hard-working, aren't you the guys that blamed your own joblessness due to your own laziness on illegal immigrants. Don't you guys complain about not being able to have the free speech to be racist on twitter meanwhile Africans and Asians are working hard to survive, you guys are super entitled.

If our culture isn't suitable for the parents, maybe they can go back as well? Also if it's now safe enough to send their children to, then they do not need any further asylum in the uk

It is not just Somalis. I emigrated at the age of seven to the UK from Sri Lanka and found that after a while I was an outsider and rejected by both the British people and the Sri Lankans. It is not a pleasant experience. :)

Sadly Somalia isn't the solution and there is nothing wrong with western culture taking drugs and getting locked up says more about the person than the culture.
